Ok,
So this is my first blog. So far, I've posted some articles that I've written on Helium on there but there's an interview that I did with a a young lady by the name of D. Gulley.
I'm trying to "get it right" so feel free to check it out. I'm having a little trouble with the layout though :)

I've read some of your articles on makeup on Helium and you've got a lovely, chatty style. Why don't you try and batter down the door of some fashion mags and get some proper money?

I really don't know where to start Janeyboo. That's why I came here to network. Maybe someone here knows where I can go.

I live in London so that's not much help for you, but I started by gathering a pile of women's mags I genuinely liked and firing off ideas to the features editor. Nobody cared that I didn't go to journalism school; they wanted ideas because ideas is what keeps the magazines going (well that and sponsorship from the big beauty companies). You seem passionate and committed and your writing is good. I'm not knocking the fact that you write for Helium; just that if you send off enough good ideas to real magazines someone will bite. And pay you. Really. I think there's a freelance writing for mags thread somewhere here too . . . .

Ooh, good to know that I'm already doing something right! ;) I too collect women's mags for inspiration. Not only that, but I've joined quite a few beauty forums which led me to the fact that there are so many topics dealing with style & beauty that have yet to be written...and I am just swamped these days. I can't wait until the summer so that I can focus and rewrite some articles. I have to brush up on my researching skills, lol! :)
Anyway, I'll definitely have to search for that thread on mags searching for freelance writers. Maybe I'll get lucky! Thank you for the compliment! It's good to know that someone else thinks that I write well. ;)
