I need to buy a black and white printer for scripts and I was wondering if I could get some recommendations. Cheep and holds a lot of ink is key. Thanks :)

Any cheap laser printer that takes cheap black toner cartridges! :) I've had Samsungs and Lexmarks and Hewlett Packards and they all do the biz -- but toner cartridges can sometimes cost as much as a printer! Try a Google search on mono laser printer and compare hardware and consumable prices.

I absolutely love and recommend the Brother HL-1440 Laser Printer (or one in this series). This is an older printer but can be found on e-bay, often NIB or slightly/ lightly used. The cartridge lasts forever, you can find them on e-bay, (I found a bundled pack of 3 cartriges for the same price I'd get one for at office max) they are a sturdy, no nonsense black only printer with a good strong contrast. It is usb and parallel port adaptable. I've had mine for years and will be in agony when it dies. I print out a lot and end up buying a cartridge only every few years.

Definitely go Laser. The toner is more expensive than ink but you won't be buying nearly as much.

I have an older HP LaserJet, the 1200, and I love-love-love it. I get close to 5,000 pages on a single expensive ($54) cartridge--that's a whole lot of screenplays. (IIRC, it's rated for 3500.) I have never once had a paper jam or an ink smear, although if I'm not careful, it's only too happy to print an envelope crooked.
Maryn, who wouldn't hesitate to buy this again

A b&w laser printer for which you can buy toner refills (rather than whole cartidges) costs about $20/year in toner to run. Check e-bay for a good idea of what models have cheap toner refills. . .

The best and most expensive printer you can afford. For me that's probably a piece of paper and a pencil.

HP has great printers. I got the model that prints both novels and screenplays. LOL

I have a HP laserjet 1022nw. It's wireless so I won't have to sit next to it while it prints all those pages. It cost me around 200$ two years ago.
