I have an article I would like to write for a sceptics magazine but it has been a while since I read them. I went back and found most are overly dogmatic to my taste. Can anyone recommend a sceptics magazine (in any country) that is analytical and cautious, but not willing to use any appraoch possible to 'slay the woo'. I read one that rules out the possibility our pet animals think. Bloody hell, thrusting us back into the arms of Descartes seems a bit much! the article in question would be on the topic of cattle mutilation and horse ripping and how reasonable explanations are usually available if you calm down and question the alarmists assumptions (think rats, not aliens).

Have you read more than one issue of the "overly dogmatic" magazines?
You can't judge a magazine by just one issue.

If they descend to saying animals are automatons I guess I do leap to judgement, and stay leap. I mean occassional silliness is fine in a tabloid or gossip mag, but occassional irrationality in a sceptic's mag strikes me as a deal breaker. I am only interested in a brand of scepticism that would not whitewash a zebra should they find one.

The only two I know are Skeptic Magazine (http://www.skeptic.com/the_magazine/)and Skeptical Inquirer (http://www.csicop.org/si/). I can't say whether they are overly dogmatic, although I don't necessarily agree with everything in ever issue.
