I can relate to your posts! Been there done that :-).

You might want to consider shortening the text in the subtitle, as there is lots going on there to digest. Maybe move it to the sidebar?

The blog is easy to read and nice enough to look at. I agree the description at the top is a little long and it might look nicer with a graphic banner. The content didn't really grab me but I suspect I am not your target reader.

Hello NC,
I found your blog well written. I liked the voice as well, and the enthusiasm I felt between the lines. I agree that the top is a bit wordy, but I also think the side bar (whatever you call that strip) is very cluttered and disorganized. Can you 'kill your darlings' as they say with novel writing and cut a few? Can you reorganize the ones that are there to make it flow better? Put whatever your readers might want to see regularly at the top (archives, etc). Maybe tighten that blog list by only showing the 10 most recently updated...

Other than that, nice job. I'm off to read more :)
