Oh joy, I come here to escape my kiddos, and look where I wake up.
I know, let's just give all the brats haggis to play with and we can relax while they maul him.

I know... it's a shame, isn't it? I was really enjoying the atmosphere.
Well... except for that cow patty thing. I simply don't understand why dogs have to roll in smelly stuff.
storygirl
08-03-2008, 11:58 PM
Oh, that was my fault. I was actually rolling Haggis through them, it was sort of a bowling through cow patties game, and Haggy was the ball. I think he liked it.

(Moves movie to the top of the queue.)
I know this movie may not be completely accurate.. (gasp).. but I find the Roman era to be fascinating. It is part of the 6th grade curriculum in California, along with ancient China, Mesopotamia, and Greece.
Stew21
08-06-2008, 01:15 AM
Well, it is based on Frank MIller's graphic novel, and it is over the top, fantastical, and steeped in lore/legend/myth - and done so very well. My husband thought it was too out-there, but I approached it from the perspective that it was intended to be that way - myth and legend From the narrator's view he is telling a story - Greek Lore - to pump up troops. It is told as such. The basic story is the same, but the attitude of this film is amazing (and gruesome).

maybe a safety tip while we're here:
if a small child is choking on an ice cube, don't panic.

And when the TTSDBNT crew went took the children summer field trip the kiddies got more than their money's worth.
Nature: What your parents really mean when they talk about 'the birds & the bees)
Sharing: If a guy is cute enough, the girls don't really care how many times he's 'been around the block' as long as they get to 'drive the car' once themselves.
If a girl is cute enough, the guys don't really care how many times she's 'been around the block' as long as he gets to 'drive' at least once himself.
See, kiddies? That's what the old commercial meant: 'It's *nice* to share.
The only problem the adults (*cough, cough*) encountered was the kiddies were so darn engrossed in what they were learning that even the potty trained kids forgot they were potty trained!
