I sent an article to ByLine back in May. I just learned that ByLine is currently suspending their print publication. Should I send my article somewhere else?

Yes. That's five months ago and with them suspending publication.... Send it out to other places. Good luck! (I did like Byline.)

Where did you hear that they were suspending their print publication? That is not good news, for Byline has been around for quite a few years. Do you think it's part of the economic slowdown?

I read it on their site, http://www.bylinemag.com/. It says the owners of ByLine Magazine are currently experiencing personal problems.

I am trying to find a back issue of Byline Magazine that contains the story "Ankle Biters of Old Arizona; or, Attack of the Wild Chihuahuas". The story was printed in BYYLINE MAGAZINE sometime in the early 1990's. The author's name is O'Neil DeNoux. An acquaintance suggested that particular story might be useful in a class I'm teaching, one component of which is using humor in short story writing.
I would, of course, be glad to pay for the copy of the magazine. If the magazine is not available, would it be possible to pay to have a copy of the story sent to me? Or, can you suggest any other place the magazine/story might be available (other than the Sniplets web site--that's only audio, and I want my students to see a printed and published copy).--I've contacted the author and, unfortunately, he does not have a copy of the magazine.
Does anyone know of a library that subscribed to the magazine? If nothing else is available, and the answer to my library question is "yes", could you send the names of the libraries to me. Perhaps I can find one in my area and obtain the story that way. Also, can anyone tell me the month and year in which the story was published?
Sincere thanks you for any assistance anyone can provide.

Among their "personal problems", for years, has been a real bad issue of response to submissions. Either they take waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay longer than they say they will, even for a form rejection, or, more commonly, they don't respond at all. I gave up on them some years ago.

I had an article run with them back in...I think it was Oct. 2007.
Trying to get my money was like... (fill in your favorite cliche comparison here.)
They were having personal problems back then, too.
But hey...don't we ALL have personal problems? Anybody around here have a perfect life? (If so, can I come live with YOU? <G>)
I'd be very hesitant to submit there again.
