Alright folks, I have an application for a freelance position for the Onion News Network (gotta love the Onion) and it calls for a 2-3 page script for a news story. Oddly enough, I will be learning this stuff next semester in grad school but that does not help me RIGHT NOW. Where can I find such a script? Should I just try to script some of their stuff that I have seen? (It is short).

I don't think it will be terribly difficult to figure it out, but I thought I would toss the idea around here since you people are just so damned smart.

Thanks.

I would think it would be fairly straightforward, and similar to other scripts. Is there anyway you can request a sample script from one of their previous broadcasts?

I would prefer not since I am applying for the job, ya know?

Yeah, but if you don't come up with any solutions before that, it would be better to ask than not I would think.

I can't guarantee these are what they're looking for which is why I suggested asking but here's some links.

Hope they help.

News scripts run on the two column format(at least when I was in news).

Visuals/stingers/etc on one side, copy on the other.

MOS in news means 'Man on Street' rather than 'Mit out Sound'
