REALLY great example of how to do old school horror on a ZERO budget. It's called There are Monsters.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsL_5bovozE

It seriously looks like they spent well less than $10 on this one, unless they actually had to PAY the actors. And the actors were all quite decent too.

::ETA::

I keep forgetting that not everyone does YouTube. Here's a non-YouTube link:

Enjoy.

You jumped didn't you? ;) At that ONE point early on in the video, you jumped!

I jumped too! :) (And to be honest, I almost stopped watching at that point because of how rattled I was!)

And the thing about YouTube is that when you're watching it, your face is usually only about 18 inches from the screen. So when something REALLY unexpected like that startles you ------ chills!!!!

And the REAL beauty of it is that the entire moment was nothing more than good editing and MAYBE a tiny smidge of PhotoShop.

My apologies for failing to rememebr that not everyone has a YouTube account.

I have edited the OP so now there's a non-YouTube link in it to choose from.

You don't need to have a youtube account to watch videos there. Just to post and comment on them. A second link's always good though.

I thought it was neat. The camera was a wee bit self-conscious for my liking but otherwise great.

That was great fun! The really creepy part for me was that at this very moment my place looks exactly like the opening scene. Right down to the white porch rails. Could have been my front yard. Even got a wood pile. Ha!

Don't be fooled - that was FAR from a zero budget production.

Well done, and carefully crafted to look natural.

It had a good story premise going. I really, really enjoyed the supermarket scene by far the best scene. The rest was just okay, some bad dialogue here and there and bad acting. But good effort.

The camera was killing me though especially in the dinner scene. I also thought they cut the camera way too much instead of holding on characters to draw the suspense.

For low budget though it wasn't bad.

It was pretty professional overall. Certainly not zero budget.

The camera work could be better, especially when they'd zoom, it was very jumpy if you will, reminding you you're just watching a movie, rather than the smoothness. The dialog lagged in certain points and was just plain boring in others like they were trying too hard to be normal and you could tell especially the husband was an actor and not a person you were observing. I also seriously doubt this was done on 10 bucks.

They did a really good job though for what they had, the last part though had me laughing, they went overboard with the photoshop to the point where it looked like a reflection in a circus fun mirror.

I definitely jumped at that spot at the window though and the overall stuff was pretty good.
