Hey guys (generically speaking),
I've been in Texas for a bit helping my 77 yrold mom and her 84 yrold husband. She went in for a triple bypass, got out and went back in for congestive heart failure. We're home again, but there is alot to deal with!! Hopefully, we are making progress, getting someone to come in and care for her as I will have to leave soon. We're at the point where we need to start considering what options are available for them and when to make those decisions exactly.
All prayers greatly appreciated.
At 57, it's a huge wake-up call for me to start thinking about my own plans.

Hey, kid :)
Sounds like a busy, busy time for you, and emotionally difficult too. Hang in there!
Thanks for the update :)

I'm so glad I found AW.
It's weird having invisible friends, but it's nice.

Missed ya, kid. Options abound, from independent to assisted living arrangements. Hope you find one (or a combo platter) that fits!

Taking care of my mom and making arrangments for her care has been a HUGE wake-up call for me..........
I'll just asked to be left out in the wilderness and let nature take it's course if I don't get my act together.

Kid,
I know what you're saying. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Within the last few years, I've had to deal with moving my parents (in their 80s) out of their own apartment into an assisted living facility, followed by hospitalization for both of them, and the subsequent death of my father (within a year of my sister's death in her early 50s).
At a trying time like this, when you have to deal with circumstance with your parents, it becomes so much more difficult because it forces you to address your own mortality. May God grant you the strength and wisdom to face whatever comes.
Know that many of us are praying for you and your family.

Well, we made it throuth the triple by-pass and congestive heart failure. This week mom's right lung filled with liquid and on Monday, she had it drained. So far, everything has been going well. We're going to continue believing that we're making progress and she's going to come out of all this in pretty good shape. Mom's a fighter and that's worked against her most of her life but I think it's definately giving her an advantage now.
Thank you all, again, for your words of comfort and encouragement!
God bless you all.
