We’re invincible. Didn’t you know?
I will not die today. Not even tomorrow. I’ll say goodbye to my husband without a single look in his direction, without a warm smile, or an, “I love you”, because I’ll see him later.
I’ll drop my son off at school without a hug because I’ll hug him tonight before bed.
As I drive by a parked semi I know that there will be no tired drivers on the road tonight swerving into the other lane.
No planes will blow up. None will crash.
A serial killer will not abduct an innocent child and molest and murder them for their sick pleasure.
My father isn’t going to have a heart attack.
The earth will never end.
I will not be shot through a window of my home.
Because we’re all invincible, and as such, we can take our lives and the lives of loved ones for granted. They’ll always be there, day after day. We’ll always be here, night after night. So we don’t need to say today what we can say tomorrow. We don’t have to hug and kiss our children and spouses.
We don’t even have to like them.
There’s time enough for that tomorrow, or the next day, or the next, because we’re invincible.
