View Full Version : promoting via a record label

Here's something a little leftfield. I've just written my first novel, it has links with a particular cult music genre. There's a small record label here in UK that specialise in this genre. They're interested in promoting my novel via their web-site, gigs etc, all very professional and their artists get reasonable coverage and include some of those referenced in the novel (which was partly inspired by attendance at one of their gigs).

Effectively I'd self-publish (Lulu?) and they'd brand the novel with their label and sell it (on on-exclusive basis) for royalties. Doubt either of us would make much money, (that's not the point for me) but it sounds cool.

Still trying the traditional route and have had several requests for full m/s but no-one's bit yet and this sounds like fun!

Thoughts welcome.

Could you use their interest in doing this to catch an agent's attention? Or a publishing house? It does show there's a market for your book, even if it's small.

Very cool way to promote your book. Good Luck with it!

Thanks guys, have actually done what Betty suggested and a small publisher is currently reading it. Will keep you posted.
