I went around and around about where exactly to put this -- it's freelancing, yes, but it's also blogging.

Finally, I decided it was its own category, really. So don't bump your shins, because I created a new front page category for freelancing -- and this is now a room of your own, within.

Cheers!

Yay!! Thank you!!

(Hmm, four exclamation points in three words. Might be a new record for me.)

Thanks! Would it be appropriate for Demand Studios to be in here too? I know it's not really blogging, but About.com isn't totally either.

Maybe this could be for web writing? And the other freelancing room for traditional print?

I would vote for this to be called "Content Sites" or "Web Writing" or something. I know if I was looking around here for About.com, I wouldn't go looking in some category called Blogging Networks (I still fail to see how our articles are also blogs - we have a separate blog. And forums and all sorts of doodads.). This way, you could include places like eHow, Demand Studios, About, etc that are still web writing but not (at least obviously) a blog.

I like Web Content Sites or something similar too since they encompass so much more than just blogging. But I am so happy to have our own little corner of AW.

Oh Im happy too - as much as I would love to do some print writing, I'm all about the web writing for now. I just think it would be nice to have a web-only writing version as opposed to perhaps this blogging networks version.

I am curious - how is "Blogging Networks" really all that different than the "Blogging" already in place? I *know* the difference..I am just curious as to why this name was chosen for this forum.

Because the Examiner.com folks were the ones who asked for the room. And it's paid blogging/freelancing, so it's a crossover category, really.

1 -- Frankly, there's been enough bitching (both in the threads and via PM) that at this point, I'm really sort of sorry I didn't just kick those threads over into the blogging forum in the first place, and be done with it.

2 -- Examiner.com and About.com are primarily blog networks. That is, large networks with many, many affiliated blogs. They're paid positions, so it's also freelancing. The various blog-network threads were cluttering up the front page of freelancing to the point that people NOT writing for Examiner were feeling invaded and buried by threads they had no interest in, in spite of having been freelancing for years.

3 -- It's NOT my intention to put all of web-writing in this room. We're not voting on that, because this isn't a democracy. It's called "Blog Networks" because it's a room primarily for people writing for the big blog networks. It's a place to contain the multiple and rampant examiner.com and about.com networking threads, because we have a lot of folks writing for those two blog networks, in particular.

I'm sorry...I didn't mean to sound so grumpy. I just really didn't understand how these places fit into blogging networks, since I just think of places like b5 and others like that.

Thanks for the new room. It doesn't really matter what it's called, as far as I'm concerned. I regret saying anything in the other thread.

I vote we call it all ONLINE CONTENT WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT

That'll put me in my place.

I was JUST telling someone the other day it wouldn't surprise me if examiner.com got its own space soon, since there were so many of us here now that do it. So, YAY!!!!! :hooray:

Guys, please be aware that this isn't just for Examiner.com. It's for other networks as well: About.com, eHow, Demand Studios, Suite101, etc.

Thanks

I LOVE the new name. Really has opened up conversations for other aspects of online writing.

Mac-sorry about the irritation that came with first name, but the new one is perfect. Kind of like a kitchen junk drawer that has been organized, now we know where to stick it.

Um, yes, I know where I can stick it, too. :-D
