View Full Version : Using Interns for Your Company

This might not be the right forum area to post this, but I could not find a more relevant one.

I run an SEO and Marketing Copywriting company and one of my clients has suggested, given the bulk of work coming up, that I grab a few interns from UCLA, etc. to handle the writing while myself and my business partner handle larger responsibilities of setting direction, conferencing, etc. and only work on editing what the interns create.

Currently we have this client at $25/hour for 40 hours and he is asking what my rates would be for using interns. I'm wondering if I should charge less, more, I don't really know. I have used interns before, but it was for my own purposes and not a client.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I'm going to assume since he's asking you to herd a bunch of college kids that the client is wanting your quality of writing for less than what you are charging. He's going the long way around of asking you to lower your rates.

In my opinion, it doesn't matter if one of my underlings is doing the work or if I am, I am expected to produce the same type of quality, and it goes through my scrutiny, and it carries my name. I'd negotiate price with some clients if they can provide other benefits, though I don't think I would discuss who actually does the writing. It isn't relevant.
