I have a question :)

I've been googling for about 20 hours (er...not all in a row though). I have this HUMONGOUS project to do for one of my modules. My group needs to cost for the development of a CD-ROM/DVD to go with language learning textbooks.

I've been searching for info on how much creating a CD-ROM with speech recognition (you know, "practice your pronunciation" type of work) would cost us. I've come up with almost nothing (aside from some freelancers charging about 20GBP per hour). We're thinking of starting out from some open source software (Carnegie Mellon University's Sphynx stuff) and hiring someone to tailor it to our needs. Basically, we need to know at least how long that might take to do (to calculate how much to pay someone) and if possible, if you know, where I can find approximate costs for the buying of bulk CD-ROMs and the burning of said CD-ROMS.

I've only found places where they do quotes but we're not allowed to go straight to the companies because this is a fake project and someone last year contacted a company who misunderstood and phoned up the uni asking if this was a real job and there was a bit of a mess :P

Anyway, thanks for any info, links, numbers etc. you can provide :)
