I just started writing for Examiner, and was accepted to Suite 101 this morning. After reading Suite's wonderful handbook, I saw their guidelines for five citations per article. I have become so accustomed to citing everything that isn't common knowledge at school, and I'm not really sure what I should cite and what I shouldn't for these networks. I'm already worried I cited too heavily in the articles I posted on Examiner (because you know what they say about old habits and dying hard...). Would anybody be so kind as to share how they do citations, and how you decide which passages to cite as opposed to others? I personally love reading articles that have lots of outgoing links, because it gives me the opportunity to explore the topic more, but I do see Suite's point.

Thank you!

Hi!

I cite anything with quotes and anything that I feel will give my reader more information that is vital to a subject. People love informative links, plus it earns you linkbacks.

I personally wouldn't go over 7, but you can create lists that you refer to in your articles, too.

Thank you so much for the great information, Julie!

And I'm so glad I'm not the only one who loves links ;)
