I just wanted to take a minute to pay tribute to the men and women of our military, their families and friends, and to say "Thank you"

... everything we have and take for granted, like liberty and freedom, we owe to them.

I am one of many (not enough, though) who live today, because they

liberated us together with the Canadians and the British.

How could we forget? How could we not be grateful? How could we not

think of those who lost a loved one?

The toll of American soldiers killed in Afghanistan reached 1,000 on Friday, a grim milestone that came as Americans back home prepared to commemorate their war dead.

My heartfelt thanks for all those who have and are serving in the military

I give out a hearty hooah to those who go where I never did, and with greater aplomb than anything I could have managed.

My thanks, as well, to those who have served (including my husband and my grandfather) and to those who serve still.

Thanks to all who served. I attended the ceremony at the Mount Soledad Memorial today. Now I'm off for a walk on the beach, to enjoy my freedom.
