Hello again folks.

We in this forum--writers, execs, readers, others involved behind the camera or scenes--have enough drama in our daily lives, while dealing one way or another with the production of the drama that goes on the screen.

That’s why I heartily recommend to all here--and especially the writers—the Hollywood send-up comedy, ‘The Last Shot’ (2004). http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0357054/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0357054/)

It’s a very friendly, good laughs, not-take-ourselves-too-seriously comedy about a down on his luck screenwriter (Matthew Broderick) who gets taken in on an undercover sting operation by an FBI agent (Alec Baldwin), who goes into the film business as a producer. The initial basis of the film is based on fact.

But the real joy of this film is the good fit between the actors and the roles they play, and the obvious enjoyment they got from performing them. Broderick and Baldwin do a commendable job, and around them there are some equally good cast. The restaurant scene with Broderick and Baldwin and Toni Collete as Emily French, the Oscar nominated actress making her come-back, is really ‘to die for’.
(though it may not be to everyone's liking).

For all you screenwriters, I recommend adding it to your DVD collection, and taking it out & watching it when things become a bit too much & you need a lift. It is very cheap, but very good medicine!!

Never heard about this movie, but I always enjoy Hollywood parodies - The Player, Bowfinger, The Muse are some of my favorites.
