I just wanted to let everyone know about the passing of a true indy writer.

Bruce Sakow, my good friend who I have always considered a mentor, died last week suddenly after a long health battle.

Bruce represents us all. Here was this guy who wrote the story for Friday the 13th part 4, has done some writing in comics, sold a few low budget scripts, taught courses in screenwriting in NYC, but was virtually an unknown. He's had options, sales and such but never made that big sale that put him up on the poster or made him in great demand.

But Bruce never gave up. He wrote and wrote and always stayed busy, even when sick and tired of it (literally).

He always told me keep at what you love doing, but never give your work away for nothing.

Sadly, he will be missed.

Joe

Yes Joe I am so very sorry to hear this. I've seen Friday the 13th Part 4 many, many times and remember seeing his name :) I often wondered if he did anything else.

How sad, Joe. The Friday the 13th films were my bread and butter growing up and I remember part 4 well - the hippie hitchhiker killed eating a banana. Good stuff. :)

Never give up's a damn good mantra to leave behind. I'm sure he'll be missed.
