Anyone attending this festival this year? It looks like everyone in Hollywood-producers, agents, managers, executives- come out to meet with new writers, directors. Figure it's a great way to hit the entire town in one weekend.

At $400 a head? Too much for me even next year when I hope to be over there.

Handy Google search results (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Hollywood+Pitch+Festival) link, with the website URL plus articles about the event.

Never heard of it. Screenwriting Expo is a lot bigger in November if you're going to plunk down the cash.

I'll video a pitch in a couple days and I hope you'll critique it for me. I wonder when youtube will become the pitch medium? I hope soon, because a ticket to LA isn't going to be cheap for me (Michigan). Topper

I was thinking to try to go the the expo this year, but it looks like it's going to cost me a minimum of $1500 to go and I just don't see myself coming up with that kind of mulah! so I feel your pain.

I went to the Expo last November - had a great time, accomplished nothing as far as selling a script, but really polished my pitching technique and built up my frayed nerves. (I also did Take a Meeting, here in NYC)
As to cost, I spent almost $600 on travel expenses and $120+ on the event itself - came in Thursday night, which accomplished nothing really. Best to get there for Friday night mixer, pitch all day Saturday and Sunday, and go home. Spend the hotel night money on more pitches. (And a CAR.)
Oh, and mixing Saturday too. :) Hollywood after dark anyone? :D
And I assume FadeIn is more of the same.

Again, nice to practice...accomplished naught other than getting critiques on your pitches. I hated the concept of the Virtual Pitch services, which all send the same message: My art, my baby, my dream, doesn't warrant a trip to Hollywood for 3 frickin' nights.
Our NMS has a great post (http://www.panix.com/~mwsm/nms_faq.html)on the real world of selling a script, which I'll summarize: 1. Have a great idea. 2. Have a lawyer submit a hard copy on request.

I've been on inktip for a long time and I was trying to sell a period drama (probably the worst spec scipt I could've chosen...) and I've gotten a few bites, but no takers. I think for someone that doesn't have a lot of money to spend to try to sell my work I think inktip is a good way to go and you won't be flying to los angeles until someone actually wants to buy your script... just my $0.02
