screenplay question (Courier font?)

does it matter which courier font is used? I use Final Draft Courier font, but was just wondering if Courier new would work just fine.

Induxtry standard is that one page of 12 point courier equals 1 minute of screen time. Since you want movies to be generally 90-120 min, it makes sense to use 12 point courier.

For what it's worth, a few years back I interned at a boutique agency in Los Angeles. We never rejected a submission based on the wrong type of Courier. We wanted to see talent and commercial viability, and if it was going to make the agency money, I'm fairly sure they would have accepted something written with crayon on a napkin (but don't do that).

I should mention, though, that the agent I worked with was probably the type who saw Transformers this past weekend and declared it a masterpiece of screenwriting.

Use the FD Courier. Its tighter and just like Final Draft, its the industry standard.

If you're comfortable w/ FD Courier, stick with it.

Everyone in the biz has seen scripts written w/ this font. They're comfortable with it. That's what you want, something that doesn't raise any alarms.

The same goes for Movie Magic Courier. If you like it, use it. It looks familiar to anyone who'll be reading your script. Familiar is good.
