I wrote and posted a list of 4 sites that pay more that $5 an article as I promised in the Edubook thread. Keep in mind that some require higher quality for higher pay.
I'll post more as I find them

Thanks for posting this! I tried Demand Studios and was almost hysterical at their comments, etc. I wrote a 200 word fact-back piece and went round and round with DS for THREE freakin days - and finally threw in the towel - all that for $5.00??? I don't think so. I might try some of the others.

You're welcome. :-) I don't make any claims at these places being great, just that they pay more than a few bucks in most cases. Those aren't affiliate links, either. If I post that sort of thing, it'll be noted.

They've got a lot of new editors at DS, so they're still learning the ropes. Sorry you had troubles. I just had 4 $5 Fact sheets approved, so maybe tis settling down. I usually do the $15 How-To's myself, as well as proof titles.
Off to look at the listy...

Very helpful. Thank you. :) I've sent it to my mom who is just getting started writing online. I think she'll find it helpful.
As a side note, I just started with Demand and so far I like it. It doesn't pay nearly what LTK does, but I enjoy the topics so far and the writing is easier (hence, the lower pay). I think it will be nice for "filler" work. :)

Thanks, Julie!
Re: Demand Studios - My first couple of weeks there were fine, all my articles went through without a hitch. This last week? Every article I've sent in came back for rewrite, some for stupid things. One fact sheet came back and I just deleted it. I'm not doing any extra work for five bucks. I still like the site overall, but I'll be glad when the new editor growing pains are over.

Guess what? The editor from Looking For Clues came by and commented! He thanked me for endorsing LFC and calling him friendly. I /told/ you he was nice!
That reminds me- it is great PR with some sites and editors to let them know just how much you enjoy or enjoyed working with them. Even on a personal blog! If you have a blog detailing your experiences, post the positive ones, not just negatives. You never know who might be watching.
(by the way, I'm pretty sure I learned that by reading Deb Ng's blog, www.freelancewritinggigs.com so I can't take credit for that nugget!)

Here's a list of magazines-Parenting focused- to go with that list. If a mod wants to move this to sharing leads, I'd be grateful.
If you're looking for a specific niche, tell me. I'll find the guidelines. I'll be posting some big names soon, too.

I’m following now and I love the layout. I won’t copy but I’m going to learn and borrow from you in the future. Thanks for all the great advice Julie.

:-) Thanks! I haven't updated in a while. Need to. If I knew people actually followed me, I guess I'd get off my butt, yikes!

Thanks for these ideas Julie.
Looking for Clues is no longer accepting writers at this time, however.
