Is it ok to submit the same story/article to more than one place?

I'm strongly considering submitting my short stories to a few websites that specialize in the subject matter. (not relevant to my question) Basically I just need to know if it's ok to send the same one to different places? Or should I send one to one place and wait to see if it's approved before sending it to another?

It depends on the websites. Where are you thinking about sending them? Many of the content sites require original work (although some like Helium do not). You would need to check the submission requirements at the specific sites to find out what they allow.

They are romance/erotica sites, and I have read some of their guidelines (there are 6 sites total so it'll take me a while to read everything) but I haven't seen anything yet saying you can't send the same story to another site too.

You might want to double check the erotica subforum. I deal primarily in nonfiction, so I'm not sure I'll be a ton of help. Simultaneous submissions can be a problem when it comes to short fiction. You may want to read through this thread:
