If you have fresh content, it's really a great web2.0 sites. It's highly strict towards duplicate content and over promotion. So you need to play carefully with hubpages.com

Hubpages, squidoo, gather and sites like that are used by many site owners to get backlinks from them since this helps in ranking in search engines.
