I just tried to apply at Demand Studios, and when it came to the part where you have to upload a sample of your work, I got lost. I do have my own website, but that goes in the other section under this sample section, and it also says it must clearly state you as the author, but my website doesn't have my name anywhere on it. So I can't use my site as an example? And since I don't have a sample writing to show them (for the first part), what do I do?

Hmmm, they must have changed the requirements since I signed up. DemandStudios is the parent company of eHow. What about going to eHow and writing a few nice how tos there as examples? That sort of thing has worked for other writers. It's exactly the same format.
When I signed up I wrote a how to piece (unposted, just something I whipped up on Word) and loaded it as my sample. Are they asking for published samples now?

You can do what Denise said, whip one up in word. Just place the title up top and your name as author right under that. Should be fine :-)
I agree...and good luck!:)
