I went looking for this in the forum, but I couldn't find it. Do they post regularly? Is there a schedule I'm missing? At the moment I feel stuck since I don't know how to repair a Honda engine. :(

Thanks!

It depends, although I usually find new stuff every time I log on, but I think it goes in phases. The DS forum is in SEO/Content/Blogs, come on over! :)

Indeed, it seems very random and in random amounts as well. I think it is because the titles are dumped in huge piles, then they are approved by title proofers who work whatever hours they like (like us), and then they show up in the lists.

Popping this over to the SEO forum just as the worm suggested.

Does anyone know how they come up with their titles? Some of them are so crazy, I would love to be a fly on the wall on those editorial meetings.

They haven't added new titles in a week. The DS forum has a couple of posts lamenting the lack of titles. I'm hoping they add new ones soon.

I'm really liking the Strategy format - very easy to write. I grabbed a few titles I liked this afternoon.

Once upon a time rumor said that titles were "dumped" into the system in the middle of the night. Several writers have said they find buckets of good titles at 2am. But I don't know if that's still the case. If you're a night owl, maybe check the titles before bed. I know I used to find some good ones when I was up with a cranky baby last year.

As for where the titles come from, I heard that they had some computer program that selects them from search engine results. I think that's what the title proofers do -- make since of the idiot computer generated titles and try to turn them into something that makes sense. Obviously, some are better at it than others. I think this is how they can brag that their titles are better than your own ideas -- they know that large numbers of people are searching for these odd things.

That explains a lot, like why there will be five titles that are essentially the same and worded slightly differently. Not complaining, of course, since I can snatch those up at once and use the same research...but I still thought it was odd.

I think they also get some from Google searches as well. There's a lot of new stuff lately, though!

Well, titles expire at a certain time every night - 1 AM MST here. (So maybe it's 12 PST, overall?). So that's why, even if technically no brand new titles have been added in, you can find new titles.

That actually explains a lot, especially with them complaining of title hoarders.

Yep, it's 12 PST when titles expire. And since they've mentioned on the DS boards about letting titles expire, you can find new stuff right before the deadline, as people release titles before expiration. Before anyone gets worried, no one receives marks against them for letting articles expire, but it has been mentioned as something to implement against title hoarders in the future, so a lot of people have just released their catches back to the wild if they can't get them done in time.
