I'm placing all the stickie threads into one big stickie thread so there isn't so much wasted spaced at the top of the forum.

MARKETS FOR FREELANCERS (http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16663)

This is for you new guys who seem to be lost and really want to get ahead. Deb Ng posted 60 really good tips on how to get started and also 45 places to find jobs on her blog, Freelance Writing Jobs. If you have not visited that blog-do so. It is invaluable for anyone who is serious about writing full time.

I also have posted 2 posts for freelancers that are new on my blog, both with markets that take new writers with NO CLIPS.

60 Tips for Getting Started in Your Freelance Writing Career
(http://www.freelancewritinggigs.com/2009/08/6-tips-for-getting-started-in-your-freelance-writing-career/)

Deb Ng's Annual List of Places to find jobs (45 of them this time!)

7 Magazine Markets for New or Established Writers
(http://juliefletcher.blogspot.com/2009/07/7-magazines-for-new-or-veteran.html)

4 Content Sites That Pay More Than $1 Per 500 words
(http://juliefletcher.blogspot.com/2009/07/4-sites-to-submit-articles-for-pay.html)

The search function here is 'iffy', so we seem to be getting a lot of the same questions. So in the spirit of those before me, here are links to the stickies every new member should read:

The BIG Sticky-read this FIRST
(http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60124)

Read this NEXT-
(http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40720)

Read all of those threads and there's no reason you should have to ask 'How do I Get Started?' or 'Where do you all find jobs?' ever again. A lot of work went into all of those links by the author of each. Don't ignore them, it'll be obvious to others that you just aren't paying attention in class.;)

I have to agree--Deb offers a great place for writers to pick up some work--especially when you are new.
