Just thought I would post this in case some of you are not aware of it.

The new program that we have now here in AW that allows you to send a 'private message'....instead of using the PM message....in case you don't know it, can be viewed by anyone that sends you a private message. Meaning they can see alllllll of your old private messages.

Until the webmaster or whatever can make that unviewable to everyone but the one it is sent to you may want to not use that as a means to send thoughts to someone.

This is not the PM part. That remains private. It is the new one and is called private message and you get to it by clicking on the persons' name and viewing their profile. It is a short length box that comes up.

I have sent a PM to Mac about this. I don't see anyway at this time to delete any of the other messages I already have.

Uh-oh, the whole world is going to know about my evening with a trampoline, 170 cans of beef gravy, and a dwarf. Damn!

Maryn, kidding--about the gravy

It's the visitor message on your profile, not Private Messages, and you have the ability to moderate (where you can see it but no one else can) and you can also delete those comments you don't want viewed if someone leaves a message on your profile.

You're talking about the Visitor Messages tab in your profile? Yes indeed, anyone can view these messages, they're not private (unlike your Private Messages). This has already been mentioned elsewhere, but no harm in mentioning it again (and again, and again).

Sorry, but don't see where to make them private, and yes it is the visitor message part.

Will look again.
Thanks

Click the box at the right of the message you want to moderate. The message will turn yellow.

At the bottom of the visitor message page is a drop down for moderation:

Delete Message
Undelete Message
Approve Message
Unapprove Message

If you unapprove it will still show up for you but can't be viewed by others. if you delete it, it will remove it from your view as well.

1. Private Messages are private.

2. Visitor messages are NOT the same things. They are new.

3. You can set the Privacy of your Visitor messages--N.B. Mods will be able to read them no matter what.

To set the Privacy settings for your Visitor Messages:

1. Go to your CP

2. Under the Your Profile category on the LEFT click the link for Profile Privacy.

You can set a variety of Privacy settings, including those for Visitor Messages.

Or you can do the same thing by clicking this link:
