I'm trying to break into magazines. Mostly parenting and animals. My question is how much research do you have to invest in the article. I guess what I'm asking is this:
If I'm working on an article about let's say picky eaters at the dinner table, do I have to have quotes from people who have a PhD or can I use parents who actually deal with this problem. I know that many magazines have quotes from doctors and other professionals and few have from real people who have experienced various problems with their children.
My article is only about 300 - 500 words and angled toward parenting magazine so it wouldn't be a feature article. Any advice from the pros would be great.
Thanks so much.
