Writing Animation Scripts

Alright, so I've written elsewhere that I have an idea for an animated movie script. If you would like to know all of the details, please feel free to drop a personal message or email. The meat and potatoes so to speak of this post this is this; I've been wading through a mass of sites about writing in general and most particularly screenwriting. Among those I stopped by Site link removed per request of other site's Webmaster which is the website of [redacted--JDM] who have a long list of credentials and credits from movies like [redacted--JDM] and so on. Anyway, I was posting in their message boards about my idea for this movie and got very discouraging information about writing animated films in general and even worse when your aspirations are for a digitally animated work. So, I suppose I am asking if any of you have heard of how writers get in-house with these animation companies or if you think I should abandon the script until I build a more solid reputation?

Almost every animated film released by the studio system are made from within. A director (one who does these types of films normally) gets an idea and writes it with someone or a writer who is already in the field sells it, or a studio hires someone for a specific property bought, like a children's book and so on.

That's not to say it is impossible and I would certainly write it out and save it for a later date, but keep in mind that it is much harder to sell an animated script than a live action spec.

The rare exceptions, like Madagascar, which was written by in part by Billy Frolick, was a relative newcomer, but he had already a writing and directing credit.
