Hi all.

I was rushed to the hospital Monday night and just got home today.

My heart has a serious rhythm problem and I am afraid I must take some time off.

So... After the screenwriting competition (winners will be announced now on Nov 13th.)

I will be stepping down as moderator to focus on my health and deliberate to whether I should continue striving for a career in screenwriting. The stress of it all is obviously getting to me.

I still have a few more weeks, so we'll talk more later.

PS. If you haven't voted yet for task 2, please do so by Sunday night.

Thanks.

Joe

Joe, I think I speak for a lot of people like me who don't post in your thread but admire you for the hard work you do -- I hope all goes well for you and soon! I'll be keeping you in my thoughts.

Dawno, you said it just right. Joe, I'm not proficient at zipping through screenplays and getting the most out of them, but I always enjoy your wit and appreciate the care you put into your posts and the running of your boards (and contests.)

Please take care and know how well thought of you are!

Take off all the time you need, Joe. I doubt anyone here will begrudge you some time off to concentrate on yourself, first and foremost.

The most important thing is that you get better. Do so.:)

Wow, I don't know what to say.

I wish you the best, Joe. Here's to your health, your endeavors and the fruition of all your dreams.

Take care of yourself and then come back and let us know when we can go see that killer movie you wrote.

Joe you may be taking this whole "lay your life on the keyboard thing too seriously" lol Something you enjoy so much should never hurt you so bad. Take a break, the keyboard will be there when you get back.

Hey Joe - I hope you make your rest a power rest. You'll be able to write an entire screenplay in you head and when you hit the keyboards again it'll be all down in a week. Remember that flick where Richard Dreyfuss was paralyzed from the neck down and the entire story he was lying in bed?! Power rest!

Take care of yourself and mind the doctor's advice. Your're in my prayers too.

There comes a point in everyones life, when they come to that crossroads of what they want their life to stand for. Have they completed all they set out for themselves, and are they content with themselves.

Some people have passed it already, some people might not ever, but its in the striving of what we Love, and how we want to live our life, is where we get exactly what we deserve out of life.

If the writing bug is still eating at you, and you cant let it go...not yet, then Id say your challenge now becomes, how can I continue to write, and control how it affects my health. There is a balance there. And i hope you find it, if the desire is still eating at you.

But youve always seemed to have a full plate to handle, and I hope that means a full life for you. Youve come across as very decent and hardworking, and those always bring about their own rewards.

So, good luck in whatever you choose to do. We're all better writers because of all youve done for this forum. Take care. Get better.

Joe, i would just like to say that you have been incredible.

i am a part time script doctor for local theatre groups and everytime there is one put up in the critique area i look at it, read it, think about it, try to organise thoughts into a cohesive and non-patronising setup but always click back, and there you are - first in, always eager to help in a truly kind way.

i honestly wish you the best.

Hi Joe,
I'm sorry this has happened to you. I have major health problems myself, so I can relate. I wish you the best and hope your health starts to improve.

Joe, get better. I have mitral valve prolapse, so I know how unsettling irregular heart beats can be.

However, I blame Jenna for my heart skipping a beat.

And, even though Jenna beat me to the punch(line), I'll be happy to moderate in your absence, as Jenna has suggested in the many steamy PMs that she's been sending me lately.

I'm sorry to hear of your health scare, Joe--but relieved to know that your priorities are in order: 1. Joe 2. Everything else

We certainly agree with your decision to step down as moderator to protect your health, and with your taking a dispassionate look at what the screenwriting business is doing to you physically.

I'm sure your health care professionals laid out a plan for taking first-rate care of yourself, from eating right to exercise to de-stressing. That might mean major lifestyle changes--remember, your support team is at hand at Coffee Break-Office Party, which has hosted Get Healthy threads many times.

Let us know how we can help you attain that healthy-heart goal. Or stop in to commiserate on how you really, really don't feel like exercising, or how a particular 'outlawed' food is singing to you from the kitchen. Some of the people around this place generously share their coping skills (and will nudge you out the door with your walking shoes on and some energetic music on the iPod).

We care, Joe, so you take care--of yourself. Let us know how it's going and turn to us first if we can help.

Maryn, who will gladly (and privately, if you like) introduce you to a walking program you won't hate
