Hi,
I've just finished writing a book that focuses on spirituality and was wondering if there's anyone else on these boards who writes in that genre. This book is more New Age rather than religious. Hope to find some others who write in this genre also to share ideas and information.

What's your book about, Maggie? (Inquiring minds and all that ...)

Hi Featurewriter,
Here's a brief outline of what the book is about. "From something as commonplace as washing dishes to something as profound as confronting our doubts, from something as magnificent as the everlasting mountains to something as precious as the love of a child, "The Joy of Finding God" provides a wide range of ideas and concepts that can lead to a more meaningful relationship with the Divine.
It awakens new possibilities and affirms old knowings of where God can be found. It is a book that will touch your heart and challenge your view of God and your own spirituality. It will uplift and nurture your spirit and offer loving support as you explore your own paths to God."
My hope for this book is that it will encourage others to explore their spirituality and find their own path to The Source of Life. I should add that when I speak of God I am not referring to the Christian God, but to a much broader God that can and does include Buddha, The Great Spirit, Mother, etc. etc.
What types of things do you write?

I am interested in writing spiritual/self help type stuff. I'm not exactly sure where to begin except exploring those type of magazines and give it a whirl.
Does anyone have any magazine suggestions? Religious magazines are fine too as long as my focus doesn't have to be on the religion itself, but more 'helpful.'
Good luck with your book Maggie. It sounds very interesting.

Maggie, that sounds like a wonderful book.... sounds like one I'd love to read. :D I want to write something like that someday, but don't feel that I'm far enough along my own path to write it yet.
Good luck!

April,
If you go to Google and type in New Age + magazine or New Age + ezine, you'll come up with quite a few places you might be able to submit your writing. Not all pay, however. Good luck with it and let me know how it's going.

Hey, Lucky Penny,
You can wait forever to 'arrive' but you never will. I've discovered that being spiritual is a journey and not a destination. Take a look at Wayne Dyer's books, for example. He started off writing about what he knew at that time. As he learned and grew he wrote more and his writing expanded. There will always be someone at the point where his first book came from and there will be others at the point where his last book came from. Just because he has grown and changed to some degree doesn't negate his earlier work, it only adds to it by offering further paths for others to explore.
Why not start off writing just an article or a short piece? You certainly must have a few things you can write about in short form. I'd love to chat more about your writing if you'd like.
As to my book, I'll let you know when it's available...and I'll even sign a copy for you if you want.http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Maggie,
You're soooooo right about never 'arriving,' at least in this life. I have a few ideas here and there, but nothing concrete.
As soon as your book is available....and I have the $$$ to spend on new books....I'll definitely be requesting that signed copy! ;)

Maggie, I write pieces along those lines. It helps me get my own thoughts in order, and if it helps someone else, that's a bonus. :)
Your book sounds like something right up my street too! Congrats on it. I wish you every success with it:)
