The thread on "Great books" makes me wonder what a great book really is. I have read some books that I never wanted to stop reading, but mostly when I was a child. I guess that is why there are so many series and sequels out there.
I just read Ender's Shadow, which I enjoyed as much as Ender's Game, so I checked a couple more in the series out and found them to be completely ordinary.
Can you think of any books you didn't want to stop? Would that make them a great book? Does an enjoyable read add up to a great book? And finally, what about sequels? Do they often disappoint?
FYI, I have read most of the 20 listed and have my own opinions about them. None of them fit in with books I didn't want to stop. But anything by Jane Austen does--wrong century, though.
