Hello everyone,
New here and just wanted to say hey, so... "hey" :hi:
I haven't written anything (yet), but I am interested in trying. Want to explore a little and see what I can come up with. I've enjoyed the forum so far and find alot of you have some great ideas and suggestions.
Looking forward to more and maybe throwing a few out there as well.

Most of us are eccentric, but friendly. Beware of the Jabberwock, my friend, otherwise, enjoy your experience with us.

Welcome, smelling salts! Um, is your user name any indication of what you write? Should I start sleeping with an axe under my pillow? http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/images/smilies/smileyflag.gif

Welcome Smelling Salts! This is an awesome place, and everyone is nice.
I'm usually a lurker, but every now and then I come out and say something. ;) I hope to see you around!

Okay, now, smelling salts, what are you waiting for? Write something! submit it. get rejected. repeat. eventually, the skin thickens, and the rejections become acceptances. What a wonderfully horrid thing being a writer is.

Hey everyone,
Thanks for the warm welcome!!
LightShadow thanks for the warning about Jibba Jabberwock (kidding, I'm a fan of Mr. T... who isn't)
quidscribis lol. That's what my wife asked me, weird. I don't mean to give off that kind of vibe http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/images/smilies/e2fight.gif . I'm really a friendly guy http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/images/smilies/emoticonbox.gif .
Right now, I'm trying to figure out when the best time to write would be. My thought process is that morning's would probably be best (I'm a morning guy).
So, what do you guys and gals think about giving myself an hour of writing time every morning?
Is that enough? Would it be a waste of my time?

If you're a morning person, then yes, in the morning is probably best. An hour is a good amount of time. You may change that later as you figure out what works best for you.
I've learned over the years that, in the beginning, I'd be lucky to get out 2 or 4 pages a day, but as the days turned into months and years, I've been able to increase page output over time. It's kind of a writing muscle thing, for lack of a better way of putting it. You develop the skills you need over time to be able to get more words out in a day. Nowadays, in a good week, I can sprint 20 to 40 pages a day. But I'm not at the point of being able to do that every week. Eventually, yeah, it's possible. I'm just not there yet.
The point being that, yes, sit down for an hour a day, and adjust as needed for you. Don't be impatient if it's not just pouring out of you immediately. You might find that bribing your muse works (mine works for chocolate and outside food, and other writers I know have muses that will work for stickers, books, movies, and so on.) You might find all sorts of things. It'll be an interesting - and rewarding - journey.
Good luck!

The best time to write is when it's time to write, which is: whenever you can, and whenever it moves you. If you can't seem to write your project, write something. Sometimes when my brain is stuck, I just start writing poetry, just to keep the blood in my brain from becoming stagnant.
