Does anyone else -- well, obviously some other people must, but anyone on this Forum? -- write songs to go with books? I have published some songs in my non-fiction books, and have some songs to go with a yet-unpublished fantasy novel.

Do short stories count? I wrote a song based on "The Rocket Man" by Ray Bradbury, from his R Is For Rocket Collection.
Here are the lyrics. (http://www.electricpenguin.com/urbantapestry/songs/homecoming.txt)
Here's a sample soundclip. (http://www.musesmuse.com/ut/Sushi/Homecoming.mp3)
(Pardon the recording quality; it was from a live performance)

I've seen this done by Charles deLint in 'Little Country' - actually only the music of tunes mentioned in the novel was presented at the end. I loved it, and remember playing the tunes on my flute. Music was such a significant part of that book that it was really cool to have it in!
Hmm... if I ever do get round to writing my 'country stars' novel, I might come up with some lyrics or even tunes...
My current WIP is not focused on music, so no music there...
