In an attempt to avoid outright spam in the 'Announcements' board, I have opened this thread for anyone wanting to advertise their WRITING-RELATED SERVICES (i.e. Editing, Website/Blog Design, Advertising Opportunities, Seminars, etc).
While advertising your services, PLEASE mention how it can benefit the writers on this message board. If your services don't apply to writers in any way, then your message is spam and will be deleted.
Thanks.

Valkyrie Publishing provides a formatting conversion service, which translates word documents into PDF files and creates unique graphics for those who are time and technically challenged. Not only for Ebooks, PDF files can be useful for newsletters, ezines, or any document that will be needed to be easily opened by many computers.
As many have already realized using the free online service to convert their document into a PDF file doesn't always happen easily. Sometimes the formatting process moves paragraphs and chapters so they no longer properly aligned on the page. Valkyrie Publishing checks the placement before returning it to the author for formatting errors. In addition, the documents are ad free. Since the author is hiring a service, all rights are retained by the author. This service will provide a way for more authors to publish their work while maintaining total control over the distribution and sales.
Graphics will be composed using Photoshop by using of both royalty free components as well as original art. The image will be returned in a jpeg format in the best quality possible. From ebook covers to ezines, Valkyrie Publishing will provide unique art that will make your project look professional.
There are also other uses for PDF files. Newsletters and ezines are becoming more technically advanced as they become more popular. By converting to a PDF file, the publisher has the option of either sending the file out in the body of an email or uploading the file onto their server and sending out the address. By doing the later, it increases readership possibilities as it makes the smaller email and removes the need for an attachment. It's a simple and easy way of distributing newsletters and press releases. However, any documents that are going to shared or read on many different computers will benefit from being converted. I'm pleased to announce that I've just rolled out a brand new service over at Kristen King Freelancing (http://www.kristenkingfreelancing.com/): website evaluations.
Your professional website evaluation (http://www.kristenkingfreelancing.com/site-evals.html), performed by me, 2006 Writer's Digest Best Writer's Website Contest finalist and Top 10 Blogger Kristen King, is an objective assessment of your website's strengths and weaknesses. I'll create a detailed, multipage report just for you with feedback on what works and what doesn't, and specific suggestions to help you revise your site.
And because I'm so excited about this new service (http://www.kristenkingfreelancing.com/site-evals.html), I'm offering a special introductory rate through January 31, 2007, a discount of 40% off the regular price. And, if you want to bring me on board for some writing or editing services to amp up your site after you get your evaluation, I'll give you a 25% discount on those projects. Plus, if you need design, coding, or otherwise technical help, I'll get you started in the right direction by making some referrals. Does it get any better than this?
If you read my blog, ::inkthinker:: (http://www.inkthinker.blogspot.com/), regularly, you've heard me talk time and time again about how important it is for writers to have a killer website (http://inkthinker.blogspot.com/2006/11/qa-time-professional-website.html). What better time to get your website in shape than right now? 2007 is just around the corner. How could a professional website evaluation help your business succeed in the coming year? Visit my special page just for (http://www.kristenkingfreelancing.com/site-evals.html)website evaluations (http://www.kristenkingfreelancing.com/site-evals.html) to learn more.

I offer a web design service aimed specifically at writers.
Being a writer myself, I understand the needs of a writer's site, I don't charge bloated prices, and I'm only paid on results, so if you don't get the website you always wanted, it doesn't cost you a penny. Initial consultations and advice are free.
There are some examples of my work here - http://writers.ktf-design.com/html/examples.html
DevelopmentExec
01-28-2007, 02:38 AM
In my years as a development executive I have been struck by the number of writers who query scripts that are several rewrites away from being in a submittable state.
Clearly it's difficult for writers to gauge if what they've written is ready for the big leagues. And all too often well-meaning friends, relatives, and yes, even writer's group peers, don't have the requisite knowledge or experience to make that call.
That's were I come in. I'm a development exec at a small production company and I know what it takes to get a script from a "pass" to a "recommend" or "consider". I've been involved in the development of over a hundred projects. I know the difference between a good script and one that's good enough and I can help you get your project to where it needs to be IF you've got the chops, the determination, and the dedication. I'm tough and honest with my feedback, but I'm totally committed to finding ways to make your project the best it can possibly be.
This is not coverage, it's an in-depth analysis, that evaluates where you are, let's you know how far need to go, and offers feedback on how to get you there - including creative development suggestions. My evaluations are solutions-oriented, I don't just point out the problems and weaknesses, I provide input on how to fix them.
The basic elements of story and drama (i.e. theme, conflict, character development, plot progression) are the same whether you are telling your story via a screenplay, novel or play. I work with book authors and playwrights as well as screenwriters.
Click here (http://www.freewebs.com/dnotesgirl/servicesforwriters.htm) to find out more about what I do, how I do it, and what it costs.
Or email me at dnotesgirl@aol.com
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi, all,
I have 20 published articles that I own all rights to. If you're in need of learning the basics of the craft of writing, these are for you. Or, if you are an experienced writer, you can still learn from them. They're only $1.50 each (for AW members only.) If you're interested in purchasing them just email me @ swiener1@tampabay.rr.com, and I'll send you the titles and then you can select which ones you'd like. I have a paypal account so you can forward payment that way. It's a lot easier than mailing it. Hope to hear from you.

As from now, I'm offering editorial services to all authors in need of them. I owned a publishing company, but due to illness had to stop those activities (too much stress). But I hate to waste the experience, so I like to help new authors who are not sure of themselves or not sure about their writing, to find out what they can do to improve that writing.
Besides the editorial services, I can also do translations from Dutch, French and German into English, or from English into Dutch.
Also, I still have the necessary programs to create cover images (my sister and I used to make them ourselves when the company was still running).
The fees asked for these services are not exaggerated.

Details: Want to learn how to start a successful freelance writing career? This seminar will tell you exactly how to go about it -- even if you have no experience. The bulk of it will focus on marketing -- a skill that most freelancers fail to cultivate, which is why so many don't succeed in this lucrative career.
Seminar will be an all-day affair (7.5 hours), which will include a one-hour Q&A period. Lite refreshments will be served. There will only be a 1/2 hour break for lunch, so feel free to bring it if you want.
Guest panelists will include:
(i) A web designer: having a website is a must if you are to succeed in this career. You'll learn exactly what makes a website successful, how to market it and tools/technology you should stay abreast of as a freelance writer;
(ii) Two employers who use freelancers on a regular basis: Employers will tell you exactly what they look for in a freelancer. Eg, how to get your foot in the door, what you should NOT do (which can be more important that knowing what to do), how to get more work from them, etc. This first-hand info is invaluable; and
(iii) Yours truly: I'll give inside information on how to create multiple income streams from your freelance writing career. From e-books to e-seminars, to product websites, you'll learn how to make money from more than just your writing skill.
Location: Atlanta, GA.
When: Saturday, October 20, 2007. Full details will be announced in August.
Cost: $74.95. Attendance is limited to 100 -- large enough to assure variety (in types of questions asked, types of writing, income goals, etc.), yet small enough for meaningful interaction.
P.S.: If you're looking to make a career change, and/or want a part- or full-time income you can make from home, this seminar is for you. If you can write and have good organizational skills, this is a career you can have for years to come. AND, from the comfort of your home.
P.P.S.: There are no barriers! Age is not a barrier, income is not a barrier, education is not a barrier. Almost anyone --with the right tools -- can start a successful career as a freelance writer. This seminar will show you how -- from A to Z.
I'm there! Where do I sign up? Send us your email address (info@inkwelleditorial.com) and we will reserve your spot and contact you when sign-up begins. Put "Seminar Attendee" in the subject line. NOTE: No payment is due now. Those who reserve a space get first dibs on registering for the seminar. As registration is limited to only 100 attendees, reserve your space now.http://www.inkwelleditorial.com/SmallBizCntr/yuwanda.jpg (http://www.inkwelleditorial.com/SmallBizCntr/yuwanda.jpg)
I look forward to seeing you there.

One mistake is all it takes to derail your credibility. Whether you're trying to persuade, sell, or simply express yourself for the pleasure of it, you need to get some input from strangers. After all, most of your readers will be strangers. It's easy to confuse what you actually wrote with what you meant to write, plus we all make mistakes.
I've been a professional editor and proofreader since 1990. I've edited more than 200 published novels and textbooks, along with numerous white papers, short stories and articles. I've always taken pride in my attention to detail and my knowledge of written English. http://www.chinarice.org will tell you how I can help you.

Hello, I know that most of you writers do your writing directly on the computer now, however, I would like to offer my services to those that don't. I operate a word processing service which offers excellent work at great rates for typing of manuscripts. I have completed work for writers that had old manuscripts that they wanted re-typed and saved to word files or I have even re-typed an old book that someone wanted to be able to edit for republishing. So, if you know of anyone that may need my services please have them visit my website for more information. Thank you and good luck.

Hi. I'm Phil Gladwin, I'm a pro screenwriter and editor, been in the industry 12 years now, and I've recently written a "how to write a screenplay" book that I'm marketing privately. It's based on my actual practise I use when I am working, goes into a very precise level of detail, and is going down great guns with everyone who buys - take a look at www.screenwritinggoldmine.com/screenwriting_secrets3.htm for some of the (absolutely genuine!) testimonials...

Hi! My name is Marie, and I have just finished my site, www.thewriteinfluence.com (http://www.thewriteinfluence.com), offering proofreading and copy editing services.
I have been doing some work for marketers working online, and am offering my services in other areas as well. I have a very keen eye for detail, and am very good at cleaning up any work that needs editing.
I have done work for those who do not speak English as their native language, and have helped them to improve what they have written.
I offer very competitive rates, and provide quality service. I love reading, and find that it is not difficult for me to grasp an understanding of the material I am reviewing, which allows me to make better suggestions for errors.
If you would be interested, or feel that you will need my services now or in the future, please go now to www.thewriteinfluence.com (http://www.thewriteinfluence.com)
I would love to work with you, and would be glad for the opportunity.
Thanks

I'm the developmental editor at Writefine. Currently, I have open slots to work with new manuscripts in 2008. My prices are very affordable considering the amount of work hours devoted to each report.

My Services (http://writefine.com/index.php/Services.html)
I have academic background in anthropology and comparative mythology and this gives me a tremendous advantage over other editors. I've studied Joseph Campbell and know how to create archetypes and high concept. Here's a breakdown of my editing services and how they differ from most others.
10 Page Sample Edit $20
A sample edit will give you a taste of what you can expect with a larger project. I make several passes through your submission to evaluate all the elements of fiction: characterization, structure, plot, tension, sentence flow, pace, continuity, theme, depth, believability, immediacy, scene transition, and so on. I identify weak points and brainstorm to provide you with interesting alternatives. I can mark examples of allusion, metaphor and subversion. You will receive a detailed report containing recommendations for improvement and inline notes. I accept MS word, rich text and PDF attachments.
Turnaround time: 24-48 hours, Average amount of work: 6-8 hours60 Page Edit $270

This will fortify your structure. I will pepper your story with examples of allusion, metaphor and subversion. Bella Stander (http://www.bookpromotion101.com/bp101/)is an author consultant/publicity consultant extraordinaire. I’ve used her myself and she’s been extremely helpful. Her next workshop is in New York City on March 8. Small class size, terrific guest speakers, tons of personal attention & follow-up and yummy restaurant lunch (Indian buffet). She also does private consultations by phone or in person.
I’m getting nothing for mentioning this, just thought other AWers could benefit from her services. I would strongly recommend that once you have a publisher, consult Bella before doing anything else.

Wouldn't you rather get paid to speak to promote your book and sell big quantities of books, too? Why work for free (speaking is work) when you can get paid to promote your work?
Since 1990 I have been an advocate for speakers, most of whom are authors. My online agency was a free service for clients of my Public Relations firm but my clients didn't need it.... and soon non-clients were signing up. My PR firm is no longer operating, but my online speaker directory, CommissionFreeSpeakers.com (http://www.CommissionFreeSpeakers.com) is. Just like the name implies, there is no commission payable to me on any speaking invitation you receive and book.
I am willing to offer a free profile on the site for one month to 10 non-fiction authors who are Absolute Forum members who speak. If you generate any work, just share the news with me. This is an $89 value. There are no strings, no cost, and no risk. Offer expires April 15, 2008.
Of course if you decide to buy any of my three e-reports (http://www.CommissionFreeSpeakers.com/trilogy.html) for authors who speak, that would be wonderful, but there is no obligation. Just fill in the "application" with your speaker data and ignore the fees.
Here are the directory links you will want to investigate:
Home page: www.CommissionFreeSpeakers.com (http://www.CommissionFreeSpeakers.com)
Why Join?: www.CommissionFreeSpeakers.com/join.html (http://www.CommissionFreeSpeakers.com/join.html)
Data collection form: www.CommissionFreeSpeakers.com/app.php (http://www.CommissionFreeSpeakers.com/app.php)
My 3 reports for authors who speak:
1. The Speaker Kit: Promotional materials you need to make money as a speaker. www.CommissionFreeSpeakers.com/spkit.html (http://www.CommissionFreeSpeakers.com/spkit.html)
2. Secrets for Setting and Quoting Speaking Fees www.CommissionFreeSpeakers.com/speakfees.html (http://www.CommissionFreeSpeakers.com/speakfees.html)
3. 33 Amenities Speakers Deserve www.CommissionFreeSpeakers.com/33ways.html (http://www.CommissionFreeSpeakers.com/33ways.html)
The speaker directory is international. You can reside in any country.

As a veteran development exec who has taken pitches at numerous pitchfests, I have first hand knowledge of how often scripts are pitched before they are ready for close-up.
With this year's Expo right around the corner, I've put together a development notes package designed to help you get your script in shape in time to pitch it at the Expo. The packaged includes:
In-depth analysis (up to 15 pages of notes)
One-hour consultation
Logline
Synopsis
Mini analysis of revised script (up to 5 pages of notes)
1/2-hour consultation
This special package is $700 and available for a limited time - from now through the 2008 Screenwriting Expo.
I'm also offering 20% off my normal rate for my basic Development Notes Package which includes - up to 15 pages of notes and a one-hour consult, Special Pre-Screenwriting Expo rate $360 (normally $450).
I focus on craft, dramatic story needs and market consideration. I offer my clients the same caliber of development feedback that I give to producers.

Don't pitch a script that's not ready for its close-up.

For those in Europe, or intending to go there soon, an oportunity from publisher Faber & Faber, as related on the news site springwise (source http://www.springwise.com/education/publisher_launches_academy_for/ )
Faber & Faber, which describes itself as one of the last of the great independent publishing houses in London, recently launched an academy for aspiring writers. The Faber Academy's inaugural creative writing course will take place from October 9–12 at Shakespeare & Company, the fabled English bookstore in Paris. Novelist Tobias Hill will be teaching a four-day course that focuses on "How to Tell a Story Without Telling Your Readers What to Think," with Jeanette Winterson joining in for a two-part seminar on authenticity and voice in fiction. The course costs GBP 500 excluding travel and accommodation (but including lunch) and tickets were sold out within days of going on sale. A second course—also taught by Tobias Hill—will be held in London from October 30–November 2, and the publisher plans to organize future sessions in Dublin, Edinburgh and Berlin.
Viewed through a consumer trends lens, the Faber Academy is a clear example of what trendwatching.com dubbed status skills: "In economies that increasingly depend on (and thus value) creative thinking and acting, well-known status symbols tied to owning and consuming goods and services will find worthy competition from status skills: those skills that consumers are mastering to make the most of those same goods and services, bringing them status by being good at something, and the story telling that comes with it." Other successful examples include the Nikon School and the BMW Performance Driving School.
By helping aspiring novelists hone their writing skills under the tuition of its well-known authors, Faber & Faber builds a stronger connection with its core customers (participants are likely to be readers and good customers), and promotes powerful word of mouth marketing, since participants will no doubt be eager to share their Faber Academy experience with friends and family. All of which is great PR for Faber & Faber, and emphasizes their dedication to writing and writers, as opposed to mega-publishers who often seem solely focused on the bottom line. Last but not least, the courses could provide a welcome additional stream of revenue. If your brand isn't already boosting its customers' talents and abilities, this is one to learn from ;-)

CLASS DESCRIPTION:
You’re writing the novel of your heart--you don’t have time to worry about legal issues, right? Think again. Author’s contracts put most, if not all, of the burden on the author to assure that the content of that novel doesn’t infringe someone else’s rights. In other words--if someone sues over your story--you will most likely be footing the legal bill. Lawsuits are expensive. Doing what you can to avoid having to sue, or be sued can save you money, energy and time. It is well worth your while to understand your legal rights and potential liability.
This workshop focuses on the major issues every author should know about—copyright basics, trademark use in fiction, defamation and related issues and the warranty clause in publishing contracts.
DISCLAIMER: The information provided in this class does not constitute legal advice. You should verify with your own legal professional that you are in full compliance with the law.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: After serving in the U.S. Army, where she helped make the world safe for John Phillip Sousa music, Teresa Bodwell received her Bachelor's Degree from UCLA and J.D. from The University of Oregon School of Law. In over two decades as an attorney she has prosecuted bid riggers, defended consumer rights and helped clients through the nightmare of divorce. When she read her first romance novel, Teresa found a place where happy endings are guaranteed. She finds that writing love stories adds balance to her life. Teresa is the author of two western historical novels and a novella in the anthology, My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys. She lives with her family in western Montana where she teaches law and serves as a Girl Scout volunteer. Visit her website at: www.tbodwell.com
FORMAT: Course is conducted via online discussion (bulletin) board on the RWA® Online website. Non-chapter members MUST complete both the workshop registration AND the discussion board login registration for access. Instructions for login are presented after the registration pages (or to return to the login instructions, go to http://www.rwaonlinechapter.org/WorkshopAppTY.html (http://www.rwaonlinechapter.org/WorkshopAppTY.html). As a published author (two novels published by Penguin), I know how frustrating it can be to wait for feedback concerning your work; it's much more helpful to get it while your manuscript is still fresh in your thoughts.
With that in mind, I'm offering two services for novelists in need of that all-important second pair of eyes: Written evaluation of 50-pages, plus a synopsis if you choose, along with a follow-up phone call, for $100 with a guaranteed turnaround time of one week.
OR
Written evaluation of an entire manuscript, along with a follow-up phone call and help with the query letter, for $2 a page with a guaranteed turnaround time of three weeks.

Success Authors
Do you want to be a successful author? Maybe you've already got your books into stores? More likely your rejections are stacking up or you don't know quite how to get started in the publishing game? You know you can make it but you just don't know how to get there?
"Success Authors is a new course for writers that aims to turn them into successful authors. David Hyner of Stretch Development (http://www.stretchdevelopment.com/) has been studying why top achievers throughout the world were able to achieve the success they did and one particular theme ran through all his research. This theme is what David Hyner and Dominic Took aim to tell you about. For it is not the will to get somewhere but knowing how to turn that will into success that really matters.
Dominic Took is a self published author with more than 400 sales and his book in Waterstones. He has found David's research into top achievers concise and revealing and now wishes to pass that on to you."
We are offering a 12 month course based in Manchester (UK) at a venue to be announced, where a group of roughly forty writers will get together every month to put David's research outcomes into real actions. If you want to see someone who has achieved success through the materials put forward in this course then put the name Andrew Cope into Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=Andrew+Cope&x=0&y=0) or Google (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-GB%3Aofficial&hs=Pvg&q=Andrew+Cope&btnG=Search&meta=cr%3DcountryUK|countryGB). Andrew’s sales are fast approaching the half million mark.
If you're interested please email contact@dominictook.com with your name and a brief email outlining your interest. The course costs £250 for the year and is all inclusive.
I very much look forward to hearing from you,
Dominic Took

Hi everyone - I am offering the chance for a few of you to get a free podcast (your story, read by me):
My hobby is music/audio, and my wife is a writer (Artemis Greenleaf). Podcasts are audio files which are downloaded to peoples Ipods, or simply heard from a website.
Over the last 6 months or so, I have been helping my wife with creating some online "audio content", and honing my skills. The latest podcast I made for her is available at the following link :
http://media.podcastingmanager.com/65610-83847/Media/KarasWish.mp3 More can be found by searching "podstories" in Itunes.
Basically I have caught the "bug" and would like to do more story-type podcasts - Which means , if you are interested, I will create a podcast of your story.
Here is what I am asking for if you would like an audio podcast -
1 ) Please send me a link to where I can read your short story (~500-2000 words approx) - or post it below if this is how this forum works
2 ) Please send me a link to your web page, where you would host the podcast - I am mainly interested in creating a podcast that you (as a writer) would host on your site, so that I can link to it and build a portfolio of work that I can link to
3 ) Let me read your story, and if I like it I will email you and create a FREE mp3 file for you. If you want to have a "theme tune" type thing (as with the example podcast) I can use any one of the songs I have written - many of them are hosted at:
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=107236
I am literally doing this for fun -so naturally I am looking for stories (of any genre) that catch my eye and challenge my reading skills - All you have to do is (hopefully) like what I do, and host it on your website for others to enjoy

I am looking for someone with flash to help me design banners and other promotions for people looking to self promote their work or who would just like to put a face on their character(s). I'm a trained illustrator so I could take care of that end, but I don't have flash and its quite an expensive program. PM me or respond if you're interested on partnering up, or if you'd like some art. An example of my work is in my sig (I've already done several illustrations for my book).

Fiction~Nonfiction~Market-driven feedback~Big-picture editing
Before submitting any manuscript, I wish all writers would have it professionally edited. If a manuscript is poorly written or the cover letter is awful, it goes right on the rejection pile. -- Publisher Cathy Teets, Headline Books
"You generally start out with some overall idea that you can see fairly clearly, as if you were standing on a dock and looking at a ship in the ocean. At first you see the entire ship, but then as you begin work you're in the boiler room and you can't see the ship anymore.... What you really want in an editor is someone who's still on the dock, who can say, 'Hi, I'm looking at your ship and it's missing a bow, the front mast is crooked, and it looks to me as if your propellers are going to have to be fixed.'" -- Michael Crichton

While advertising your services, PLEASE mention how it can benefit the writers on this message board. If your services don't apply to writers in any way, then your message is spam and will be deleted.

Free Workshop
What: Writing the Breakout Novel
Join us as we work our way through applying Donald Maass's Writing the
Breakout Novel Workbook to our current WIP. We'll be doing a chapter a week
and working until we reach the end of the workbook. We'll read the chapter
and do the exercises at the end and post the answers to the list along with
any questions, comments, suggestions, mental breakthroughs, rants or raves.
The workbook is available on Amazon and other sites. That and a WIP or a
story idea you want to develop are about all you'll need to join us. Well,
that and a sense of humor. The book itself is helpful, has more detail and
different examples but isn't required for the group.
Each week will start on Monday, the first being Oct 5, 2009. We'll take a
break Thanksgiving week (Nov 22nd to Nov 28th), from Dec 20th to Jan 3rd and
from Mar 28th to Apr 4th. If I counted right we'll finish in time for
Fourth of July. Symbolic, I'm sure.

I'm the developer of Story Tracker - a submission tracking tool for writers, available on the iTunes App Store for iPhone and iPod touch. I thought I'd drop by to let everyone know version 1.2 of the app was recently approved. I've incorporated a bunch of new features since the first version, based on user feedback and feature requests. It's gratifying to see people getting use out of the app and helping them keep track of their story submissions.
Whether you're a working freelance writer, a hobbyist, or something in-between, Story Tracker is a valuable addition to your writing toolbox. Many magazines, journals, or other markets for your work don't allow simultaneous submissions. When you're juggling dozens or even hundreds of stories, it's easy to make an embarrassing mistake. Keeping track of it all can soon become a nightmare.
Can't remember the maximum word-counts for a particular market, or whether they're open or closed to submissions this week? Drop by their website from within Story Tracker to check submission guidelines. If it seems like an eternity since you've heard back about that novella you sent out, you may be right. Use Story
Tracker to check how long submissions have been out to market, and send a quick query email off to the editor.
Rather than go into all the features here, I'll direct you to the Story Tracker website at:
http://andrewnicolle.com/storytracker
If it sounds like something you'd be interested in, but you're still not entirely convinced it'll meet your needs, there's also a free Lite version available.
I'm currently hard at work on the next version, so if you have any feature requests, bug reports, or other suggestions, drop me a line at storytracker@andrewnicolle.com.

Maya Payne Smart, the Writing Coach (http://www.writingcoach.com/news/bid/28985/Writing-Coach-PRO-Takes-Freelancers-to-Business-School), has just set up a new intensive coaching program for freelance writers called Writing Coach Pro (http://www.writingcoach.com/news/bid/28985/Writing-Coach-PRO-Takes-Freelancers-to-Business-School). This will be a group coaching program, limited membership to allow for personal attention, and cover all aspects of freelance writing including the business side.
Maya has experience with freelancing that impressed the heck out of me. I like reading her information and attending her teleseminars. She even has a free download of the latest one for people who didn't attend, but wished they had. Entitled 9 Ways to Get Freelance Assignments Now (http://bit.ly/writingcoachfwn), the teleseminar told that and more.

Writers, published or otherwise,
I'm offering my editorial services for those of you who may:
- need a beta reader for your novel or memoir
- want to perfect your manuscript before you query agents/publishers
- have a short story that needs polishing before you submit it to magazines
I currently work at a literary agency in New York and operate the writing/publishing blog, Glass Cases (http://bigglasscases.blogspot.com/). I also have a BA and MFA in creative writing.
If you're interested, please send project details and what you want from your critique (i.e. full critique or just a fresh set of eyes for copy-editing). Rates will vary based on type and length of projects.
Thank you!

Hi BH24,
If you are offering proofreading services, be certain your post is free of errors.
It reads, "...allow me to ad (sic) your..."
Should read, "...allow me to add your..."

I am a professional in the publishing industry with an MFA in creative writing. I also run the writing & publishing blog, Glass Cases, and am now offering manuscript critique services to those interested in having a professional eye look at their work before submitting it to agents, publishers, or magazines.
Critiques are $150.00 per manuscript, which include a complimentary critique of the first five pages. You will receive line-edits directly on the pages, a letter detailing overall suggestions, comments, and praise, and advice from the publishing industry's point of view.
Short stories and partial manuscripts are also welcome, and the fee will be determined based on the type of service you're looking for (full critique vs. proofreading only), and the number of pages you send.
All payments will be secured through PayPal.
Thank you!

Well, I'm throwing my hat in the editing ring (and if you take a look at my hat, you know it's a big one). I have a track record of 13 published books (Holt, Houghton-Mifflin, Harpers--and those are just the H's)--and was editor in chief of a national magazine for nine years.
I offer a critique of your first 50 pages and your proposal. To me it seems these are the hardest to get a professional (agent, editor) to honestly comment on.
So I will tell you if your story is working, if your writing is up to the challenge, if your proposal does your project justice. And what you can do about it. I will look at your subsequent rewrites and offer constructive ideas.
PM me if you're interested. I guarantee a fast turnaround.

The Story Tracker v1.6 update is now available on the App Store (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=326115341) for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
http://andrewnicolle.com/img/storytracker_web.png
This update includes the much requested CSV export/import feature, allowing you to export/import your Story Tracker database (via WiFi) to and from desktop spreadsheet applications like Excel and Numbers. The app itself includes the template file you'll need to format your database appropriately. With the arrival of the iPhone 4 last week, I've added iOS4 multitasking support and a high-res icon for the Retina display. All of the text and the built-in web browser appears much sharper with the iPhone 4. I've also improved the iPad interface and fixed some annoying bugs.
In case you missed it, Story Tracker is a submission tracking tool for writers, available for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. I'd been looking for such an app ever since I bought my iPhone, but alas, no one had written one, so I decided to fill the void myself :) This is basically a carry-everywhere database for all the story submission data you may have scattered across miscellaneous spreadsheets, Word docs, or buried in notebooks.
You can find more details at my website (http://andrewnicolle.com/storytracker) or on the Story Tracker Facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Story-Tracker/109401153068).
Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions, comments or feature requests.
Cheers,
Andrew

Hello,
I'm offering a free five page edit to all first-time customers. The edit includes a detailed, overall critique, a line-by-line critique, fact-checking, and suggested omissions, additions, and rewrites (always with explanations).
This free edit has no strings attached, with no obligation to pay for more. If you like the free edit and decide that you'd like me to work on more of your manuscript, my special rate for members of AbsoluteWrite is $5 per properly formatted page. If you're in a hurry, please inquire about my hourly rate.
If you're interested, e-mail a .DOC or .DOCX file of your first three pages to bartholomew.klick [at] gmail.com. I try to turn out the free edits on the day I receive them.
I'm working towards a BA in English, and have had four years of experience as a writing tutor. I currently write for The Collegio (http://www.psucollegio.com/).
Please do not send homework of any type. My tutoring fees are different. Please do not send poetry.
Very short manuscripts still get five pages worth of free editing.

Hi Everyone.
My experiences and conversations from reviewing books and talking with authors has indicated that there's really not enough time in the day to take care of everything and still have a life.
I've started a new venture that might be able to help with that. If you need help managing all the administrative tasks that accompany getting your book to readers, then I hope you stop by and give AuthorShield (http://authorshield.blogspot.com/) a try.

"I love writing screenplays, creating intriguing characters and concocting exciting plots – but I hate writing query letters. I find it utterly impossible to come up with a good logline for my script. And I'm not even sure what a 'one-sheet' should look like!"
Does that sound like something you would say? If so, you're not alone! Many good screenwriters are at a total loss when it comes to marketing their own work. It's a whole different skill!
Here at the PAGE Awards office, we receive scores of email from frustrated screenwriters asking for help marketing their scripts. So a few months ago we sat down and did a little brainstorming, and we came up with a new service that has since helped dozens of aspiring screenwriters like you!
Here's how it works...
All of our Judges are industry pros, and many of them have extensive experience packaging and selling scripts for their management firms and production companies. They have their finger on the pulse of the business. They've created the compelling loglines and successful sales materials for dozens of scripts that have actually sold. They've read hundreds of query letters from novice writers – some very bad and some very persuasive. They know what works and what doesn't.
And now, they've agreed to go to work for you!!
When you order one of our customized Marketing Packages for your script, one of our industry experts will read your screenplay, evaluate it from a marketing perspective, then create the following items just for you:
* Three optional loglines
* A personalized query letter
* A compelling one-page sales summary (one-sheet)
In addition, your industry expert will offer you some invaluable insights, including:
* The current state of the movie business and the potential market for your screenplay
* Any special challenges you may face as you attempt to sell your script
* Ideas on how best to position your material
* A list of some companies that might be interested in your work
So now, once your screenplay is completed, polished, and ready to send out to the marketplace, you can have one of our industry experts create all the professional materials you need to query agents and managers, solicit the interest of producers and production companies, or even start gaining the support you need to make your own film.
This is priceless information! But we know that until you sell that first script, you're probably not rolling in dough. So right now, our Judges are offering you this terrific service for only $125! And if you'd also like to receive a detailed 2-3 page "coverage style" synopsis for your script, our industry pros will create that for you, as well!
Writers who have received our Marketing Packages give them rave reviews...
“Thanks so much for a fantastic, really professional package. The loglines and synopsis were really clever and made me laugh out loud! And I was particularly impressed with all the specific examples of companies to approach! That in itself was worth every cent!”
– Sundae Jahant-Osborn, London, England
“I got the marketing package for my screenplay yesterday afternoon. I have to tell you that this package rocks! The question breakdown is effective, the three optional loglines and synopsis are excellent, and the query letter is extremely professional.”
– Dexter Williams, Durham, NC
“Three words: Money well spent! I have attended a pitchmart. Spent thousands on editing, etc. I am not complaining, it takes money to make money. But the Marketing Package was worth the expense – and then some. There is so much BS out there designed only to take an aspiring screenwriter's money. Your Marketing Package Service is the Real Deal.”
– Samuel Christian, Kansas City, MO

We'd love to help you develop and promote your screenplay!

LEARN TO PITCH YOUR BOOK FROM PROs.
Hello! I'm the Founder and Chief Alchemist of Pitch University, where writers learn to verbally pitch their books directly from agents, editors, and experts.
This is a GREAT way to prepare for your next conference or PitchSlam.
Not cost. Seriously. It's free, like AW.
I'm a writer like all of you, so I understand why pitching is so very difficult. But we can learn to do it. And it's the same skill you need when you talk to your readers, when they ask, "What's your book about?"
We run PitchFest weeks (where you learn from an agent or editor), and we also have experts in to talk about all the related topics to pitching.
We're very new, so most writers don't know we exist. This means the odds are extremely good you'll receive personalized feedback.
We just finished our first PitchFest week with agent Christine Witthohn of BookCents. We had 12 pitches (audio and video). 100% got encouraging, helpful feedback. And she asked for 4 FULL manuscripts.
A couple others... she didn't rep the category so she's sending other agents by to look. Based on this, I'm re-designing the website to have a place where Industry Pros can easily access pitches over time.
Anyway, email me if you have any questions. pitchuniversity AT gmail.com

Betas and CPs are extremely helpful, but YA novels need that extra edge--will it connect with teens? Does it read in an authentic voice? Would that girl actually say that?
I'm an 18-year-old writer with years of experience writing, editing, and interning at lit agencies. If you'd like that all important teen opinion, contact my editing service, Teen Eyes.

I reviewed my webdomain's backend and soulrequiem.com has webspace enough to share a subdomain with some authors looking to have a website for their writing/blog but don't want to pay money. Would prefer someones who have a degree of command with the web and computers.
Completely free space with yourname.soulrequiem.com, NO ADS.
you are not required to post ads for me on your site. I can assist you with setting up a blog (I'm the only one with Database access) or an image gallery, or whatever (most programs are fairly easy to install these days with some knowledge of computers, but I'll help if you need it)
Database is MySQL (that is pronounced My Sequal)
Server is a Linux server so keep in mind ALL FILENAMES ARE CASE SENSITIVE. (I'd recommend just doing everything lowercase for anything :P)
Please contact me (preferably by IM clients) or message me on here and we'll talk space.
:) It is very likely I have the subdomain of your choice available for you!

I'm not sure how often I'll update, but I'm designing covers that will look good and clear at the Amazon thumbnail size. You don't have to credit (though I'd like it), you just have to comment. If you have trouble with changing the title or author, I can sort it quite easily.

Hi, everyone.
I’d like to introduce myself and my editing services at Best Word Forward. A bit about me: I’m a newbie to Absolute Write, but an oldie when it comes to editing. My first love has always been traditional books in print; I’ve been known to go to my bookshelf, swing open the glass door, and take a whiff of ‘new book smell’ whenever I needed a little pick-me-upper. Strange, yes, but somewhat indicative of my love of language. I’ve been proofreading, editing, and copywriting for years in a variety of personal, academic, and professional contexts, and am currently working towards my certification with the Editors’ Association of Canada. The world of ebooks came to me through a talented independent writer I came to know, who is now one of my most amazing clients. I think it’s wonderful that writers no longer need a gatekeeper to share their brilliance with the world, and I would like to help as many as I can to make that happen – and that includes you.
I like to be efficient, and though I avidly appreciate compelling compositions, I can’t say the same for unnecessary verbosity. So, out of respect for your time, I will keep this posting concise. If you are interested, please feel free to check out my rates and other details on my website (listed below). Regarding bookings, I currently have some openings in my schedule, and am open to all genres. Please contact me if you have any questions!

Besides being a first-class snark, I am a webdesigner and graphic artist (that's what I went to school for, for what it's worth). I have plenty of experience with Wordpress -- it's my favorite because it's very customizable and it's easy for the site owner to manage after the intial setup.
I don't charge an arm and a leg, though I do expect to get paid -- with exceptions for good causes.
I also believe in usability -- easily readable content and links -- and not pissing off half the site's visitors with unstoppable loud music and annoying, distracting animation. I am visually impaired, and therefore know what it's like to encounter an inflexible, unreadable (with my eyes) page
Just thought I'd mention all that.

I'm so excited - my updated website is FINALLY going live this Friday! (The old one was seven years old, which I'm pretty sure is approximately 485 in website years.) I'm throwing a little launch party for myself and giving away an evaluation and a Kindle, plus a few of my favorite books. Feel free to stop by (http://murdockediting.blogspot.com)!

Hello,
I am a photographer/writer and I am currently in the process of setting up a business and website for photo illustration. Since I would like to focus on illustration for book covers, I realize that it would be helpful to have real life clients who have used my covers, rather than just mock-ups.
I also know the importance of having a good cover that not only represents your book, but will hopefully entice readers to take a look inside it, especially if it is self published.
That being said, I am looking to offer one or two covers (possibly more, depending on how my class and work schedule goes) at the range of $50-$200, depending on what the author needs. I will be using Paypal.
A few basics: The contract will allow you to use the cover in marketing. You can use it in bookmarks, press releases, promotion, you name it, at a one-time cost. In return, I am able to use it in my portfolio and depending on the nature of the illustration, may be able to sell prints independent of the title.
I will provide a few sketches for you to choose from, and then we will decide how many edits I will allow to have made to the cover before it is finalized. Please allow me two weeks to a month to complete it.
Depending on what you want for the cover, the cost and time to make it will vary. I can make both the front and back or wraparound, but please specify this when describing what you want. If I already have all the photos I need to put it together, the cost will be cheaper than if I need to stage shots or use models. I retain the right to refuse to do a book cover, whether I am uncomfortable with it or if I feel I cannot meet the needs of the offer.
This link has several of my illustrative photos, though I can provide more examples if you are interested in more recent work: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sbibb/sets/72157625181255815/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/sbibb/sets/72157625181255815/)
If interested, private message me, and we can discuss the possibility of doing a book cover. :-)
I may end this offer at any time, though if we have come to a decision on a project, that project will be completed. Current End Date for Offer: October 12, 2011.

It's the '15 for $15' promotion- so the first fifteen authors to get in will get a cover designed for them for $15. Here's an example of a book cover I finished recently:

Hi Everyone. FictionQuest is a new eBook publishing project which intends to use an audience of beta readers to help determine what is worthy of publication. The intention is to post one or two of the most promising books per month. Readers will answer a short survey to provide feedback for the author and help us to determine what is worth investing in. The books that get the best feedback will be taken off the site and FictionQuest will work with the author to publish the book.
So if you are an author who is ready to take a chance on a new publisher, please send me your work.
