Thought this might be of interest :

YOUNG POETS SOUGHT FOR ERIC GREGORY AWARD
This year’s Eric Gregory Award for Poetry has just been launched, and it is an opportunity for young poets to win awards totalling £24,000 (unfortunately, being young at heart doesn’t count…) Entrants must be under the age of 30 must be a British subject by birth, and should be resident in the UK or Northern Ireland. Work submitted may be a published or unpublished collection of poetry, drama-poems or belles-lettres, and no more than 30 poems should be submitted. The deadline for entries is 31 October, and more information and entry forms can be downloaded from www.societyofauthors.org (http://www.societyofauthors.org)

If you look on the site there are quite a few awards etc.
