This is a blatent plug, I suppose, for my blog although I don't make any money from it. For those of you who know, or are a little computer or business savvy (or both) I have a mini interview with Guy Kawasaki (of Apple fame and his book "The Art of the Start") in the form of "Ten things you didn't know about..." which some of you may have seen already with Jenna Glatzer.
Guy agreed to answer my silly questions and for me it is quite a scoop. So happy reading (and sorry for the self-promotion).

(Dawno here - I've blatantly hijacked this post to set up a special announcements sticky. If you have a blog related event or have done a special interview or want to point folk to a Blog Carnival, etc., please post here. NO SPAM!! I will be merciless. Also, for just announcing your blog or a new blog, please go to the AW Blogger's thread. Thanks!!)

(Dawno, my apologies if I've misplaced this... please remove if it's inappropriate)
This has nothing to do with my blog, but one of the random blogs I like to read is "Mimi Writes" (http://mimiwrites.blogspot.com). She's posted a neat idea today that I thought I'd mention here. It involves trying to help spread a message of peace by having as many bloggers as possible post the same image on the same day. I'll let her explain it for anyone who's interested:

Greasy Spoon, I think this was just the right place for your post. I hope people drop in here and note your announcement, it's a lovely idea you've shared.

Dawno, you rock - this thread is *just* what we need for carnivals and things.
I co-ordinate a fiction blog carnival. 15th of every month - the October one has just appeared here: http://nrm1970.livejournal.com/32696.html and is full of amazing stuff, including one of the funniest online interviews I have ever read.
If anyone would like to submit to it, the correct address is philologa(at)gmail(dot)com but anything that reaches me will be sent to the carnival host. Which is me next month anyway, I suspect. We're happy with posts from outside Australia, just as long as they are related to Australian speculative fiction (Or New Zealand - we like hearing about or next-door neighbours.)
If anyone knows of any other blog carnivals that cover books I would love to hear about them - it makes finding the fascinating posts *so* much easier.

Dawno needs to Carnival in Oz again. This month I'm the host of the Australian Speculative Fiction Carnival. http://gillpolack.livejournal.com On it you will find Jennifer Fallon recruiting minions - worth the price of entry just for that post!! (I want minions, especially to do my housework.)

I just posted an interview with Canadian ecologist and science fiction writer Nina Munteanu (http://sciencefictionbiology.blogspot.com/2007/06/alien-next-door-interview-with-nina.html) on my Biology in Science Fiction blog. Nina's first novel was a hard science fiction-romance, a genre I hadn't even known existed!

Hey all, our nice mod said that this is the best place for new blog announcements. However, I may collapse soon if I don't get some rest. I've been getting ready for two launches all weekend. I already posted about my new cool blog in my home away from home thread (http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1459660&postcount=119) so if you'd just visit there I'd be thrilled not to have to re-type the info.
AND I'M BACK BECAUSE: I just found out that the contest I thought was happening is. Basically anyone with a blog can enter to win some very cool music prizes. Here's the contest link (http://www.b5media.com/music-channel-launch-contest-win-an-ipod-and-more/).
Thanks and take care

I'm blogging in the Blogathon (http://www.blogathon.org/) next Saturday (July 28th) -- writing 49 posts in a row, every half hour for 24 hours straight -- to raise money for a fantastic charity called First Book (http://www.firstbook.org/).
In fact, fellow AWer sthrnwriter will also be participating at the group blog Write Stuff (http://www.take2max.com/writing/), and they'll be blogging for First Book as well.
Please visit our blogs sometime during the event and leave a comment or two! :)

I think I posted a link to my competition? I meant to (I'm just full of good intentions). Anyhow, Rnadom House have sent me a bunch of copies of The United States of Arugula, and I'm giving copies away in a draw based on the entries to the competition. It's all happening through my food history blog: http://www.foodpast.com

Hey guys and gals!
I have received great feedback and response from the AW community in the past, so I wanted to let everybody in on a blog contest I am running. You can find the details at
http://www.chrisblogging.com/contest-1-a-free-book-to-the-winner/
The prize: a signed copy of my newest book Open your Heart with Basketball. It is my second traditionally published book, and since there are a lot of authors here, I am sure you guys are well aware of what it takes to successfuly market a book, etc.
Thanks all!

Hi, folks!
I think this is the right place to post this -- if not, please tell me!
I'm giving away a free book on my blog as part of the Pay It Forward Book Exchange! I do this every month, but this month is extra-special because I'm giving away an autographed copy of Getting Unstuck Without Coming Unglued: A Woman's Guide to Unblocking Creativity.
I had a chance to meet the author a while ago, which was cool -- and the book really is awesome. It's got all sorts of neat excercises to get you out of creative blocks, and it's a great read, too.
If you'd like to enter, just leave a comment on the giveaway post (http://elrenaevans.blogspot.com/2007/11/pay-it-forward-book-exchange.html) -- that's it!
Thanks and good luck!

"Unleash Your story" (http://unleashyourstory.wordpress.com/about/) is a blog I discovered that's doing a write/readathon to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Basically, you commit to the write/readathon and ask people to support you during the event. If someone wants to support you, they donate money to the people at Unleash Your Story. The event has already started, but I think people can still join. It's an annual event, too.
