Just joined up for a hitch.
Hi ya'll!
My first post, so 'scuse me if I make a stinker.

I got four scripts done and lookin' for one of 'em Hollywood agent types. I'll do anything legal to get one of my scripts read... well Ok, maybe a tad bit illegal too (I'm waiting on my hand gun permit)

Anyways, go on with all the important stuff ya'll were doing, just wanted to poke my head in and say "Hi".

Welcome to AW! I'm not a script writer - I don't even play one on TV - but I'm glad to see you here! You'll love it.

Carry on!

Four scripts, all right.
Tell us about them. What genres?

And maybe join in the "where are you from" thread.

Hope you have fun here.

I have completed scripts is the following genres:
Romance
Thriller
Action
Horror
I've attempted several comedies, as they seem to be what the industry is buying right now. But, they keep coming up "flat", so I'm sticking with Thriller/Action for now.

After finishing my 3rd script I began a marketing campaign that consisited of:
industry research (HCD, Done Deal, etc.)
email queries
snail mail queries
cold calls
entered contests
printing business cards
networking on web
networking @ Austin Film Festival
"Take a Meetings" (paying for pitch to agents/producers for 15 min.)
approaching talent
inktip
script blaster
paid coverage
eBay auctions
word of mouth

My best sucess came from emailed queries. I had 3 requests for two of my 4 scripts. The scriptblaster email blast is scheduled to begin today. (I'll be checking my inbox every 10 seconds... LOL)

I would like to hear from all screenwriters in all stages . I would be happy to look over anyones work, and I would love for a critique of a few pages of my own.

Have a great day!

Is scriptblaster worth it? Do the agents and companies ignore things that come via scriptblaster?

Part of it is luck, part of it is timing, part of it is skill. There's no telling which you need for any particular deal, although the skill and good writing should always be in place so that when luck and timing line up your script is ready for it.

Welcome and pull up a chair.

Well, I'll let you know in a month for certain.

It cost $89, for that they email your query letter to 900 prods/agents/managers/studios.

The email sent DOES NOT show scriptblaster as the sender. It does not look like spam. The email will appear as if it originated from you. I know how long it takes me to send out 20 emails... then half of 'em bounce back.
So, for the money... well, it only takes one reply that counts...

Johnny,

Just went to AFF myself. Already paying dividends. One of the dudes who judged the pitch finale is interested in one of my screenplays. Another produced screenwriter said he'd read my scripts for free. Making contacts there was the smartest thing I ever did. Hope you had a similar experience.

Oh yeah!
AFF was my first and really opened my eyes.

Met some really fine people that I've stayed in touch with, plus, I really liked the whole "we are in this together" vibe from everyone I met. I was lucky enough to have a ICM guy request my scripts. (I had three on a CD in pdf. format, THAT seemed to impress him, LOL)

Defintely worthwhile, and I'll be back next year.

Thanks, this looks like a good place to start.

I'll take a look around and try not to break anything...
