Hello all. I am new to this site. Interested in screenwriting. Is there an area where I can search this forum for frequently/already asked questions? So I don't have to ask all the same dumb questions beginners always ask?
Thanks, Sydney

Eeek, I just found the search word up above. I'll try that. Let me know if you have any other tips as well. Tanks

O.K. I tried that. Maybe a more important question. What is the best book you would recommend for screenwriting? Thanks

Hi, Nancy...
For a very comprehensive view of screenwriting, two of the best are...
The Screenwriter's Bible (by David Trottier).
Screenplay: Writing the Picture (by Robin Russin and William Missouri Downs).
Skip Press also has a brand new book that looks helpful.

Greetings Nancy,
One of my favorite screenwriting books is "Lew Hunter's Screenwriting 434". He teaches screenwriting classes at, I do believe, but do not quote me, UCLA. Not only is the book informative, but it's very entertaining as well. He writes an entire screenplay, from beginning to end, and you learn how he does it.
A few more are: "The Screenwriter's Problem Solver" by Syd Field, "The Screenwriters Survival Guide" by Max Adams (this one's actually very entertaining, written by a woman who had a great deal of success in the business), then of course there's "The Writer Got Screwed (but didn't have to) by Brooke A. Wharton- not really entertaining, but well worth the purchase.
Good luck, welcome aboard, and... happy reading ;)
Kevin
