View Full Version : Rom Coms-falling in love.
I'm wondering what's the best way...agg I don't even know how to put this. You know in some romcoms you don't even know why the two actually fell in love besides the script saying so. What is the best way to convey "falling in love"? Are at least some good ideas. I'm writing a romedy and the girl has to choose between two guys, niether one of the guys are jerks or anything. I want to make the reader/audience see that even though guy one is a great guy it's guy two that she's meant to be with. Does this make since? Can I get any feedback?

It's called the Cute Meet. It's the point right before the second act when the couple meet in such a way as to show they are destined for one another.
The falling in love part happens over the course of the second act.
The third act is when the protagonist has realized what the audience alreaady knows and struggles to bring it about.
Watch romantic comedies. read the scripts while you watch them.
However, one of the greatest "in love" moments I've seen was in the first Pirates of the Carribean. When what's-her-name puts on the ammulet, walks down stairs to see Orlando. And as soon as she does she touches teh spot where the ammulet would be under her dress. You KNOW that she has loved him all the years since they met on the ship.

. I want to make the reader/audience see that even though guy one is a great guy it's guy two that she's meant to be with. And the other guy even has a industry name- he's a Bellamy. He's the other guy that on paper is perfect for teh female lead, but in reality isn't.
But watch Romantic Comedies. watch them over and over. learn how the writer manipulates you the audience.
thanks for the tips. Keep the rom-com knowledge coming. I soak up as much as I can get.
