Can anyone recommend any historical novels with labour themes? Maybe about a strike or a union organizing project, etc. I'm writing a novel in which a strike figures and am looking at how other writers have handled these issues (what to do, what to avoid!).

So far I've got:
Thunder on the mountian (David Poyer)
The Island Walkers (John Bemrose)
Out of this Furnace (Thomas Bell)
Fire in the Hole (Sybil Downing)
The Bolshevik's Revenge (Allan Levine)

Labor unions are near and dear to my heart (as the descendant of several staunch labor supporters and union folk).

Here are some:

The Jungle, Upton Sinclair
A Place Called Freedom, Ken Follett
Dreamland, Kevin Baker
Wabash, Robert Olen Butler
In Dubious Battle, John Steinbeck
Grapes of Wrath (in part), John Steinbeck

There was a movie about the coal strike and battle at Matewan, West Virginia and may be some novels too but I don't know of any.
