Reclaiming the High Priest's Chest - Synopsis

What if Judas Iscariot didn’t rush out immediately to hang himself? What if he was detained by the high priest until the following sleepy Sabbath morning? The High Priest’s Stolen Chest describes what might have happened if Judas awakened the next morning to discover that the high priest had previously obtained some very special items and hidden them in the temple to prevent them being used to strengthen the claims of Jesus’s disciples.

No longer caring for his own life, Judas selects a young boy from the crowd of beggars sleeping beside the temple to take custody of the chest and transfer it to a place of safety. Marcus, the orphaned son of a Roman soldier, helps Judas carry the chest to a nearby inn where a fantastic adventure begins. A young Greek boy named Jason, a healed blind man name Bartimaeus, and a lovely Jewish girl name Naomi join with Marcus as they transport the special chest on a treacherous journey along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea.

The small, inexperienced band has to deal with storms at sea, dangerous animals, a deceitful ship captain, and the possibility that they have been “set up” by Judas, the most infamous traitor of all time. Finally, they arrive at their destination—a religious sanctuary on the small island of Crete—and begin to feel at ease. However, a small, elite squad of temple guards, led by an unscrupulous scoundrel named Callus, move in to retake the chest. Facing insurmountable odds, Marcus and his friends must rely upon the items in the chest which become weapons in themselves. If Callus and the guards succeed, the chest is doomed to be sunk into the Mediterranean to ensure that its contents never become a source of contention again. If Marcus and his friend successfully defend the chest, the claims of the Jewish leaders regarding who Jesus was not, may finally be proven to be false.

Hi, Mac. Sounds YA to me. And there is a big market for YA historicals right now.

Soccer Mom and gifedRhonda

thanks for the feed back. That helps a lot. I can shoot for 50,000+ words and keep the subplots YA as well.

Really, I do appreciate the feedback.

Thanks,

Mac
