You're weird. :tongue
I'd say you're onto something big. Enjoy the ride. :) And, let us know how it turns out for you.

I'm dumb too, then. :) Even when I have the entire thing mapped out to a fare-the-well in outline, that still happens!
Enjoy!

I'd say that was a pretty encouraging sign.

Heh, the whole time I was writing the climax to my novel, I was all, "OMG WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT?"
And guess what? The ending was exactly what I was hoping would happen. :tongue

What I love is happening across something I wrote like 5 years ago, not remembering exactly what happened-- and then going "oh man, this is awesome!" when I read it again. :)

That happens alot to me with dialogue. It seems like the character takes over and the words come out and I'm like, wow, I wouldn't have said it that way. :D

Nope. Happens to me too, no matter how much I think I know what's going to happen, there are always surprises, good and bad.

Yep. Surprises even happen within outlines. Who knew writing could be so much fun?!

But you're so much fun to tease! I already admitted in another thread that one of my characters surprised the living piss out of me by throwing a plant off a balcony. It happens occasionally here too. I'll rep you so there are no hard feelings. k?

Yup.
I was reading over a scene of my WIP that I'm currently editing and was on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next...though I'd already written it. Silly, but hopefully a good sign.

If we already knew the whole story, it'd be more like transcribing than creating. I love to write, but have no patience for transcribing.
And this from a serial outliner.

Nothing wrong with you. Your characters are taking you along for a ride.
Enjoy it. It might take you to a place that makes your story better.

I love getting caught up in my story. It's so much fun.
But on the down side, I've been writing a lot of horror lately. Last night I had to walk down to get something at the end of the driveway. Alone. In the dark. It was a looooooong, spooky trip. I had the heebie jeebies so bad that I couldn't wait to lock the door behind me.
Then I felt like such a dork.

Just love throwing rocks at my characters. But they insist on throwing rocks at each other, further complicating things.

Just so long as they don't throw them back at you, it's all good. :)

That's my favourite part of writing: when the characters are moving on their own and I'm just there to record what happens. :)

Until I start typing the words, it is not truly "real" for me. Some kind of strange emotion happens, while I am writing (thank god, right?!) The story doesn't live until the words hit the page, and I have to structure the dialogue, the trauma, climax, whatever.
I cried after writing a rape and suicide scene of a semi-major character. Whew. That was dark!

Soccer Mom:
Too funny because I did that, too. But it was the reverse for me - working on another story, alone in my sister's house in the woods, and truly weird feelings came over me. Hair standing on the back of my neck, feeling of being watched through her un-curtained windows. Then the TV came on by itself when I locked the bdrm door to climb into bed!
So I handled it normally...I wrote it and made it a sort-of horror story with something lurking outside - but not interested in anything but "watching" me. Ha. My form of therapy.
P.S. I'm a soccer mom, too :)
