If you could pick a song that could best represent your current WIP, or any of your latest works....what would it be??? Instrumental, or lyrical?

Kindest Creatures, by exit clov.

I love exit clov, of course, but when I heard this song, I thought, "OMG, it's Little Cities!" It's all about the prevention of war (which LC is about, vaguely) and there's mention of fluffy creatures.

It's hard to choose one when there's a full soundtrack-in-progress (SIP?) on my iPod. Of the songs on it, I think one would work best for the main conflict, though:

Bohemian Rhapsody

Um. Good question.

I have 3 recently completed novels:

Summer On Fire: Watching the Detectives by Elvis Costello

Chasing Empty: Boys Don't Cry by The Cure

Sebastian's Poet: Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen

For Courting Greta, I'd go with Cat Stevens' "Hard Headed Woman"

For The Seventh Circle, I have no idea. Totally none.

Me and Mr. Jones by Amy Winehouse.

Or anything on her Back to Black album, which I'm listening to almost non stop these days!

I'm with Sage... I definitely have a whole soundtrack lined up for my WIP, but if I had to choose just one song to represent, I'd probably go with "She Gathers Rain" by Collective Soul.

Well, not my NiP but my most recently completed one I listened to the soundtrack to Last of the Mohicans most of the way through, so I suppose that would work.

I have several, which I listen to. So I guess it's more of a sound track...

_Juice Box_ and _Time is Running Out_, by The Section Quartet.

_Red Alert_, Rage Against the Federation, and _Gotta Make It So_, by Warp 11.

But the main representative is definitely Juice Box.

I love finding themes.

Okay. Whisper (http://youtube.com/watch?v=rBT65RhSTOA) and The Last Song I'm Wasting On You (http://youtube.com/watch?v=XrxrJ9PGUMY) by Evanescence for "Whisper".

Now to find the others' themes. Heh. :D

I knew you named "Whisper" after that song! I have it in one of my soundtracks too, but it's not the "theme song" of that one.

I LOVE Evanescence! They are my favorite band EVER!

So, of course my main theme for my current WIP is October by Evanescence. It's not on any of their CDs, I don't think, but I've managed to find it online, and I love it!

I also made up my own soundtrack and some of the artists featured are Hinder, Bif Naked, Radiohead, Tori Amos, Mazzy Star, and Aimee Mann.

And I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who does this too. To me, it helps me write when I have a good soundtrack to back me up. :)

I have a whole soundtrack for my WIP, but right now the representative song (which means I listen to it all the freaking time) is "My Rights Versus Yours," by the New Pornographers.

I dunno. If anything represents, it's my entire library.

I'll say The Funny Bird by Mercury Rev for SG. What an orgasmic song.

In college, I made soundtracks for each of my 3 MCs, with 1 song connecting all three. That geeky fact aside, as far as a theme song for my current wip... It'd actually be the theme song for my entire series, but: In the House of Stone and Light by Martin Page.

Oh yes! Danny Elfman - Edward Scissorhands Theme

It starts off slow and mysterious, like Annabelle's world of night in the Colonial America of the late 1600s. We feel the tempo continue as her surrogate vampire mother, Eliza, is walking through the dark forest with little Annabelle and her brother Roland following.
We continue to see them do all sorts of things like train as bats, try to mesmerize the shopkeeper, play in the dark woods.
The music changes to a soft, unearthly dance. Ann (now just a tad older on the outside but 16 on the inside) is dancing in the moonlight. Her mortal friend Thomas watches her and then she takes him for a flight under the large, full moon.

If I was ever lucky enough to get my book published, then turned into a movie, I would want Danny Elfman to do the music.

I know, I know, I dreaming.

But aren’t we all dreaming when we say we want to be published and successful authors?
