hey guys,

the rough draft of my screenplay #1 for 2008 is complete.

this was a sequel, writing it is hard. there are 3 more sequels that are to be finished. after them follow the 8 originals.

I deliberately kept the originals for last as I had a gut feeling while outlining that sequels are hard to write as you have to follow the pattern set in part 1. that way all the hard stuff will be gone first, then there will be only juicy stuff left which would be an easy ride. I plan to complete the writing by July.

My script editor is getting produced. I hope she'll take my work after it is done. she is good at editing. I like her work.

I only need some help ya guys, name a few war movies and links to their script on the net.

regards

Annnnnnd, I'm speechless.

Sometimes, I wonder what's going on. This may be one of those times.

As for war movies.

Saving Ryan's Private's*
Platoon
Heart of Darkness
Apocalypse Now
Good Morning Vietnam
We Were Soldiers
The Iwo Jima one(s)
Pearl Harbor
3:10 to Yuma
Braveheart*
That other one with Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger

*I know are easily available scripts off the top of my head

Anyway, there's this thing called google...

Searching "war movie script" brought me here:

ace - you write faster than anyone i know. you must have 100 scripts by now. too bad you only write one or two drafts and then move on to the next one.

Just as a matter of interest, Ace.

Are you paying this script editor? It seems like a hell of a workload for her.

ETA: A '12' (the mind boggles) script deal if I'm following your numbers correctly.

ETA: (again) Does she have a cheaper by the dozen thing going on (sorry, couldn't resist it - just kidding)

Nikee, I am an outline guy, so most of the hard work is done while building an outline, then I move to scene-by-scene outline. then the rough draft. then a polished draft.

xhouseboy, I have previously paid her $30 per script for 14 scripts plus return shipping charges was born by me. keeping inflation in mind I may give her a raise.

Just as a matter of interest, I will post another ad for a script editor for a flat fee if I split with my current one amicably. conditions like I'll be submitting hard copy and your postal address with phone number will have to be provided as I send the consignment via courier(they insist on providing a phone number). BTW, it'll take till July/August to complete my 12 screenplays and I will have to split with her.

hi all ,

I'm back, so some development has happened. this thread has come to page 2. BTW, I have also completed rough drafts of 2 screenplays. there are 10 more to go.

will try be more in my social circle (i.e. my 2 spaces on the net absolutewrite and scriptsecrets). by now you must know that I'm an introvert. this is the most of mingling that I do.

I don't think you have done anything worng.

What does worng mean, anyway?

Since you ask:

have I done something worng?

I wouldn't say you've done anything wrong, but you say:

by now you must know that I'm an introvert. this is the most of mingling that I do.

This, combined with writing 12 scripts in 6 months (is that accurate?), leads me to one question/statement... let's call it a musing. While it's one thing to lock yourself in a room to crank something out... I would be forced to question the quality of a dozen scripts written under such circumstances back to back.

In other words, if this is the extent of your relations with people - how many different, quality scripts could you write about relations with people - as that's what most scripts are about. I'm not questioning the ability to write a few brilliant scripts, but, I don't know, I guess it seems to me like the well might dry up after awhile. I could be wrong, and I'm just tossing in my two cents.

Ace, update your progress report by all means, and congrats for finishing more rough drafts, but don't be surprised if no one replies to your posts immediately, or expresses doubt or cynicism. It's difficult to accept that any writer can write so many scripts so quickly yet maintain a high level of quality. Maybe you're a truly exceptional writer -- maybe we shouldn't judge without knowing a lot more about you and your writing. But I would avoid revealing anything personal about myself that may be seen as negative by any audience.

Didn't mean to be negative, just throwing in a perspective. If your way works, more power to you. After all, if it's a percentage game and you get a couple/few gems, then, hey, who knows...

There's nothing wrong, ace. We're all enjoying your updates and waiting to see how you do with your writing. Don't worry too much about deadlines, you can't force quality and your time is far better spent redrafting a completed screenplay than starting a new one.

Hope this year proves fortunate for you and I hope you're doing all right after your sad news in December.
