And here's another article that is pretty much echoing most of the articles I am finding this morning all over the web. They almost all unanimously present the one-two punch of:

A) "Here are the nominations."
and
B) "But don't forget about that writer's strike."

dp - can you take these and set up an Oscar pool and put it down in the "movies" section? i have an oscar party (where people must put money on their votes) every year so i know this would be fun. make the voter visible so we can see who gets the most right answers of the 24 categories... for bragging rights.

btw, i never win. always torn with what i want to win as opposed to what i think is most likely to win.

Thanks for posting this! I love the Oscars, warts and all, and I'll be sorely disappointed if they're cancelled or turned into a press conference or announced on Ellen or something.

Go Juno!!!! ::waves pom poms::

As much as I enjoyed Borat, I can't help but think it will be sweet revenge (or at least consolation/affirmation/validation) for the much maligned citizens of Kazakhstan if the movie Mongol (which I never saw, BTW) wins the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.

Irrelevant unless I am nominated.

Thanks for the offer, but too darn complicated, and I'm not sure if polls have limits.

PD, the link on its own would have been enough... but as long as you had fun with the editing, I s'ppose...

i could not be more bored with this year's nominations. i'm sure they're great movies, and i'll likely see most of them in due time, but, man, i can't hardly remember seeing the advertising for most of these movies to want to see any one of them in particular win. (is it just me, or does that last sentence make little sense?)

thanks for posting that, though: i hadn't seen that list yet.

Of course I'm pulling for Atonement and Juno in every category they're nominated for.

(Predictable fan of James McAvoy, Keira Knightley, and Ellen Page speaking)

I'm thinking Juno better win EVERYTHING.

I'm also thinking--Sean Penn got screwed for Into the Wild.

I want Canada's Juno to take it all too. Great movie! And Depp for best actor.

Daniel Day-Lewis for "There will be blood"

Marion Cottilard for "La Vie En Rose"

Magnificent inspiring majestic and searing performances. Neither were safe but both were brilliant.

Atonemen and Jonu for the scriptwriters.

Well done PD - that woulda taken me ages but I'm guessing it took you a while as well. ;)

I saw Michael Clayton and I liked it, but I don't believe it's Oscar-winning material. I think the main fight will be between No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood, with Juno as a possible dark horse (didn't see any of those yet).
The fact that Ang Lee's Lust Caution wasn't nominated for the foreign-language awards will surprise many here in Asia.

I'm rooting for Atonement. I thought it was the best movie all year (though the war scenes were a bit too long).
Keira Knightley should have been nominated for an Academy Award, too. I was quite a bit disappointed that she didn't appear on that list.
Anyway, thanks for putting it up, Plot. Appreciate it.

I agree. I liked Michael Clayton but when I heard it was up for an Oscar, I wondered if I had missed something.
Same for Juno-- cute but...?? What did I miss?
I'm going to see No Country for Old Men tonight so maybe that one will be more impressive.

I cast my vote for Philip Seymour Hoffman in Charlie Wilson’s War-- he's outstanding.
