Hey everyone, so I bought 3 books at B&B today
1. Vogler, The Writer's Journey
2. Trottier, The Screenwriter's Bible
3. 101 Habits of successful screenwriters
Are these legit textbooks? I've read Syd Field and have nailed down structure so I'm really looking for a motivational read (101 habits) and want to learn more about story.

Story by Robert McKee is the best all around, how to tell a story book
I've read the "101 Habits" book. My writing partner picked it up somewhere. It was my toilet book for a few weeks and I read a few pages in it every time I took a dump.
I don't mean that as a reference to its quality. It's actually a pretty enjoyable read.
It can work as a motivational tool. In that sense it worked better for my writing partner than it did for me, since it didn't really tell me anything shockingly new, but it's still an interesting glimpse into the screenwriting-life.
(It's basically a series of interviews with successful screenwriters, structured by topic, focusing more on the practical side of how they go about their job rather than the technical side. Kinda like having 101 topics on this forum, each containing a handful of interesting replies by people who know what they're talking about.)
I wouldn't say it's a crucial book that every aspiring screenwriter should read, but I certainly wouldn't recommend against it.

screenwriter's bible is definitely handy, i like his version of structure better than syd's.
