Woo-hoo! Auditions are now closed, with 308 entries. (Yes, we'll count the one that was posted at 12:01, because different clocks may be off by a minute or two.)

So now... the waiting and deliberating begins. Chat amongst yourselves, offer the judges baked goods and batteries (?!), whatever you like. Soon as they've made their decisions, I'll be back to announce the finalists.

Good luck!

:hooray:

YAY. YOU GOT MY BATTERIES, YA?

I sent a 3-pack of AA's.

Woots!

The batteries, in essence, lead to this: :faint:

If used correctly, that is.

Don't ask; it wasn't my idea.

...

And, uh... yay for contest being over!
Woo! Go team!

May I just say it's been an honor competing against you all?

And what about batteries baked into brownies?

You people are total weirdoes.

I can't believe you didn't find us earlier! Look at all this fun we've missed. :snoopy:

If I bite into a brownie and there's a battery in there, someone's in trouble.

I am not a weirdo... but I am staying!

:)

This place is cool, as long as no one calls me a nazi!

Also, I never knew this place exsisted. You don't really stress its existence in the newsletter I get from you.

:)

oh, sure, Gimpy--blame Jenna for not talking it up in the newsletter...You're gonna just rack up the rep points around here, I can already tell!:poke:

What are these "rep points" you speak of?

I have already bribed her with a 3-pack of AA batteries... I BELIEVE that is enough!

And, I normally just read her intro and any articles in the newsletter. :) So, I might have just never looked for it.

Gimpy, that's what I don't get... I actually have a "Discussion of the Week" linked in *every issue* of the newsletter, I made big announcements in my letter from the editor when we moved to the new board (we had an uncooler board a few months ago that didn't have nearly as many features and options), I've talked about special features on the board (like the "Ask the Editor" section where my favorite editor answers questions), etc., yet there are a bunch of people telling me just what you are-- that they never knew we had a board despite being newsletter subscribers.

Ah, well. Glad you're sticking around. And you ARE TOO a weirdo. And certainly not a Nazi. :)

Not a weirdo! I am Norbal!

I think maybe if you mentioned it in your intro some.. Like, maybe throwing in a "look at this interesting thread on blah blah" in the text.. I dunno. I just never noticed it until you had this contest thingy. :)

Actually, I'm with Gimpy on this one. (I'm so ashamed...) But, hey, I'm here now and really liking it!

I think just about the coolest thing about this whole contest is all these new faces around the Cooler. :)

Genius, Jenna! Sheer genius!

I'm so roped in, I'm just waiting until I get up the guts to type what I think when I read some of the other posts (the more suggestive stuff, not the nasty stuff).

mommie4a, I tried to give you a rep point for something and my computer did something weird so I don't know if you got it or not. Can you say run-on sentence? lol

Good luck to all the contestants!!!! Can't wait to see who is in the Top 10!

Hey! I learned a new word today! "Norbal" Thanks Gimpy! So how long does it take to read 308 entries? I'm guessing a week, depending on how many breaks you take. Oh, you say longer? A month? Two months? I'm guessing here...no one take it for real okay?:Trophy:

Did I hear "Hersey Kisses"????
Warm, home made bread loaded with butter and Hersey Kisses----my two weaknesses!

Just would like to tell you all what an incredible shot in the arm this whole experience has been for me! I'm bowled over by all the talent out there! I have probably read about half of the entries---would have read them all by now, but have had the flu for two days. Thank you to all of you who shared and thank you expecially to all of you who jumped in with both feet and critiqued. I know for me this was more frightening than entering my own writing. I know I am like the ignorant slob walking through an art exhibition in a museum who says, "I may not know much about art........but I know what I like." Good luck and Godspeed to all!

Well, it looks like things are really quieting down here. I would just like to thank Wills for giving us that critique thread. And one more thing, Wills how did your appointment go today? Hope your back is doing better. Thanks again.

Hey Jenna,

I just had a thought. Are the comments in the judges' room going to be available to us lowly writers after the decisions are made?

Alphabeter
03-31-2005, 03:31 PM
I'd just rather be PM'd with any comments regarding my entry. :gone:

Not sure I wanna be 'Simonized' in public! :scared:

JennaGlatzer
03-31-2005, 03:57 PM
Sue: I hope you're feeling better! So glad this has been a good experience, though. :)

DJP: Nope, the "hashing it out" comments will be private, but the judges are free to make any comments they want to about why they chose the entries they did, which other entries came close, etc.

Will there be a new thread to announce the finalists when that time comes?

Jenna posted it in another thread, but yes there will be.

Thanks Jenna. :Hug2: I would like to take a moment and speak earnestly here. I thank you again for this opportunity. No matter who the grand prize winner is, I believe we all come out winners. The comrade and the critiquing, in a like community, have been an unmeasurable 'prize'! And one I never even considered upon entering this competition. This 'prize' is one that writers normally do not experience, when entering a writing contest.
And yes, I am feeling a lot better. Still a bit weak and have the shakes--but that could just be part of this 'wait and see' virus on my computer...:scared:
