Are journal style stories even written anymore? I've seen a few here and there but for the life of me can't find any when I search online.
Are they even acceptable? If they're well-written of course. Would anyone read them if well-written?
Reason why I ask is because I've been tinkering with the idea of writing one (not sure what yet) but it will have dialoge in it as well.
I do know of the YA Dear America series but what about a thriller, romance or mystery?
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you

I haven't seen/read any like that recently, but I'd be open to checking one out if I ran across it. I think you've touched on the key here: If it's well written. There's a place for anything that's well written. I say do it! Good luck. :)

i know it's not very recent, but wasn't a lot of the color purple told through celie's diary/unsent letters to her children? i haven't read that book in years, but i remember it tore my heart out (in a good way).
only other ones i can think of are go ask alice which i think is about 40 yrs old now, and Christianne F which i think is written by combining journal entries with interviews the title character gave the authors. (american title of christianne f is H). i think that book was written in the 80's.
so no, i can't think of anything recent, but those that i do remember struck a strong emotional chord.

What matters, in my opinion, is the story you tell, not how it's written. If the journal format works for you and for the story, why not ?
If you're still not sure about it, post an excerpt in the SYW boards and see what people tell you.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for answering the post. I appreciate it more than you will ever know.
And Janna--you are very correct--it has to be written well like all stories.
Again, thank you :)
