You're like the guy who thinks its funny to stand up and yawn "booooooy is it a nice night" at a Bingo game. :whip:
It would have been funnier if you had waited until all the US time zones were past midnight.

 Oh, William... It's going to be interesting to see how many you get with this one! I should have known the winners wouldn't be selected yet... not with the amount of talent at AW. Seeing that we're nearing April Fool's (in a few short moments), I wonder if we can even believe Jenna if she posts them tomorrow? I may not check in until Saturday. My heart can't take it... Oh, William... LOL.

Hey, you got me too!
I hesitated when I saw the post wasn't started by Jenna. But curiosity got the better of me! LOL.
I have to say it was a thrill to enter the contest. (I'm from iVillage, and Jenna posted the information on our board.) I read many, many of the submissions over the last couple of days. I'm humbled to have entered with writers of such great talent. (And secretly kicking myself for not entering another work. lol.)
I'll just check back tomorrow. LOL.

I feel so violated... It has nothing to do with this thread, but I just felt like sharing.

Evil, evil, evil. Would you be terribly offended if I wrote a story about you just so I could kill your character off in the end?

Indeed, the pen (keyboard) is mightier than the sword. Good idea, Blue Texas!

I'm still in the newlywed stage here, and I'm on an ancient dial-up connection so I was waiting rather impatiently for the screen to upload when I saw the title of the thread. But, after less than a week here, I already knew, once I saw who started the thread, that my adrenalin was pulsing for nothing.
Someone wrote yesterday that she's checking hourly; I am, too. But I wish I wasn't. :flag:

Well, now I'm even more thankful that I did NOT enter the contest. Seeing the title of this thread would have sent me into cardiac arrest. :faint:
You had me going, too! Great gag. I'm also checking hourly, but now I'm going away for the weekend to a place where they don't have a computer! Yikes! Withdrawal will be a b*t*c.

I must admit; it's true.
It's the same feeling I experienced one winter's night, years ago, when approached by a crazed dog, with icicles coating its fur. :scared:
I can only hope for better results this time round.

I'm in a writing workshop all weekend, but I'll be able to check in on Saturday night for updates.
I suspect that Jenna will probably inform the top ten via email as well, but if you can't even check you emails, I guess you're out of luck; unless you can forward your emails to your cell phone....?
Personally, I suck at suspense! My cat has long since been killed!

william,
can i have your phone and address so that i can put it in my next story--i think that i will make you the villian. he he he. ;)
"Yeah, he's dead all right." Sidling past the cleaning woman who had discovered the body, Detective Smith began rummaging through the papers and CDs scattered all over the dead man's computer desk when the flickering screen saver on the monitor caught his eye. A sky-blue background with tufts of white clouds set off the image of a skeleton wearing a black leather jacket and a wide-brimmed hat, puffing on a cigarette.
William Haskins lay motionless on the floor, toppled over backwards in his computer chair, an odd almost comical expression frozen on his face.
The Coroner stepped up and confirmed the obvious. "I would estimate that time of death was approximately 11:00 this morning, April 1st."
"Wh-What killed him?" the cleaning woman said, a tremor in her voice.
Detective Smith rolled the computer mouse, revived the screen image, and began reading the posts on a website bulletin board that appeared before him. "Of course we'll need an autopsy to confirm this, but I'd say April Fool's Day was his demise."
"April Fool's Day?" The Coroner was perplexed as well.
"Yep. Seems ol' Wills, here, decided to play a trick on his fellow writers. He got so many responses to his April Fool's joke, he died laughing."

Died laughing?
Shucks. I thought it would've been a collective ill-will that got 'im in the end :) Heheheh.
lol, yeah, died laughing.
I thought about a murder-mystery where there were 308 suspects, all with motivation and opportunity to bump him off, but I didn't think I had time to write another novel. ;) Besides, I'm a lover, not a fighter. (insert peace symbol here)

You know, it would make a great title for a short story. (It was already the title of a novel) So, what kind of short story would it be?
